And what?? Are you trying to maintain the citizens of the ROI will not get a vote in any unification vote? The GFA replaced the ROI's constitutional claim on NI, it affected & binded politics on both sides of the border.  It's clear as day there'll be a vote in ROI in any unification. You're the 1st person ever I have heard peddle this line.

We had it.

Are you suggesting the south has a veto?

This isn't something I just made up

Of course the South has a veto! Should a part of 'another country' be foisted upon it without the people having a say??

Any ROI Constitutional change requires a referendum,  A Unity vote is Constitutional change on steroids. I'm sure there are plenty of ways of circumventing 2 X referendums on Unity if you fear the outcome tho.

The constitutional position is reunification by consent of the people in the 6c. That is state policy. No further vote is required if the 6 decide on reunification.

Again, an unlikely scenario, but what happens if the 6 vote for reunification and the south doesn't? Be specific.

bennydorano

There'd be no unification, that's democracy - and there's very good reason to fear a vote.

Its always been said down south get a vote come the time. Never talked about as its seems a forgone conclusion.

Said by who?

It was always said here we don't. Over to you to decide.

I note you avoided my what if.

If the south votes against it, it doesnt happen.

Kinda goes against the core tenents of the GFA that, doesn't it?

I agree with you that is an unlikely scenario, but why take the risk, and expense, of a referendum you would be legally obliged to ignore if it went against you?

Its obvious isnt it? In event of ROI refusing unity, we invade the next day at dawn!
