St Brigids favourites for this championship by a mile followed by St Pauls, St Galls and possibly St Endas who play eachother.

Can't believe Portglenone playing U21 B.

Everyone else are also rans I think but it'll be interesting to see what Dunloy, Ballymena or Glenravel bring to the table. They've entered the A competition for a reason.

In Belfast, St John's and Gort are wasting their time at A level.

This could be my Harry Redknapp Frank Lampard/Scottie Cannon moment but I'm gonna predict Brigid's will be the first Antrim team from the great Galls side to Win a game in Ulster

I think this year v last years All Ireland finalists Errigal Ciaran will be too big an ask but I'd say it's coming

Many posting saying the standard was poor yesterday but where you've a team with composure, pace, 6 starting forwards scoring from play and an 18 year old kicking 7 points (no 2 pointers) and maybe 19 of the 21 points from play, that's some going and not something we've been used to here from that Galls team

Galls had no out and out superstars but scores coming from everywhere, patiently waiting for a line breaker to tap over from in front of the posts, first time I've seen that since is this Brigid's team this year. Not as physically imposing as the Galls team was at the back etc and not suggesting there's an Ulster or AI in them but there's a potential ability to win games at that higher level

Could be wrong but we shall see, I had thought the same re Creggan who were class and shoulda beat Clan Eirean but for a dubious wonder score by Tiernan Kelly.  They appeared made for Ulster Club games with big McCann and Small and pace up front in Quinn etc but haven't got back to that stage since

Rossa, on the contrary yesterday to composed scores in front of the goals, hung in there by outrageous 2 pointers and genuinely a number of controversial decisions

Life through a champagne lens in the Monday club. Enjoy the celebrations, Gold. Well deserved.

Have Cargin won any games in Ulster? Nearly sure they beat donegal champs a few years ago but I could be wrong on that?

Then the championships and leagues need restructuring.  You have essentially an intermediate league and championship with clubs that are only at the level of junior in other counties or at best 1 or 2 teams that are maybe bottom half of intermediate compared to other counties.  Take moneyglass last year,  absolutely hammered by Glenullen of Derry. Can anyone actually remember the last time when a junior winner in Antrim won a game in Ulster?

Why?
Not that I don't want them to but what difference does it make?

Antrim clubs not doing well in ulster pre dates league restructuring to a large division one. I don't think the league format ideal but I don't think it's particularly responsible for our ulster results either.

Cargin beat carrickmore in the noughties I think it was too.

Saying Antrim clubs have to means nothing. Every team thinks they have to go out win games...

Gort Won the B Competition pulling up last year and in the final, against a good few of the Rossa players who played yesterday, were much the better team. they are stronger this year, why would they be wasting their time in the A competition when the other option is to be flat track bullies in the B

Antrim

If beating a very poor Rossa team made up of 4 or 5 players in extra time by a point or two is winning "pulling up" then i'd hate to see what a defeat is.

Biddies with about 5 lads on the team who won the senior championship on Sunday.

Tie of the round is St Galls and St Endas. I think St Galls could be the outside bet.

I'd be surprised if their senior players saw much action in U21 until after Ulster (did Cargin not go light in this competition before due to clashing?) but I also think they will still have too much for Gorts.

Gorts have a really good batch coming through covering a couple of calendar years.

U21 you are looking more at a 4 year spread of players.

And talking of Cargin, did you overlook them in your predications?

Saffsof82

I would usually give our clubs no chance in Ulster, but St Enda won the Intermediate so convincingly that they should be competitive in the provincial competition.

No

St Enda's should be a half decent intermediate team and should hopefully be competitive in Ulster.

That said, half of the senior teams in Antrim should also be intermediate teams in reality.

sums up everything wrong with Antrim Football if you think a team who won the lower competition the previous year should stay there instead of trying to improve. St Brigid's are rightly favourites but there are very few teams wasting their time trying to better themselves
