Quote from: galwayman on June 11, 2026, 06:30:52 PMHi lads.
Looking for a bit of advice.
Long story short - I'm 47.
Forced to give up contact sports in recent years. Have been doing a small amount of road running over past two years but haven't been consistent with it.

Looking to get into a routine - nothing hectic just a consistent three 5km runs per week every week which I think is achievable.
This type of running is not my forte whatsoever - as a footballer I was all about speed off the mark and short sprints :-)

Anyhow - I have a pair of Nike Pegasus 41's that are now well worn and need replacing.
I was happy with them but I know absolutely nothing about running shoes.
Looking at the Pegasus 42 but see there are other models Pegasus Plus and Pegasus Premiums.
Are the base 42's my best bet here?
I don't mind spending a bit more for the others if they would suit my needs better.
I'm 47 and about 11 stone-ish if that makes any difference.

Thanks

New balance 1080's or Asics Novablast are good options in any shoe rotation, neither break the bank.

Love both these. Or if you're feeling flush the superblast are my favourite shoes of all for comfort.

How much cushioning do you want?

Are you set at 5km or do you think there's a chance you want to increase distance?

Would you prioritise speed or comfort? And how much are you willing to spend?

Just throwing out a shoe recommendation with only the info you've provided wouldn't be wise in my opinion.

Did Antrim Coast Half yesterday. Decent weather at it for a change. Surely they can change that f**king about round the town and just bring it up the coast a bit further.

Jesus Larne is some kip of a place. It's still decked out with Union Jacks everywhere from the 12th.

 ;D  ;D

The flags aren't from the 12th they are year round.

I think it's supposed to showcase Larne. Where else would you get a crown roundabout...

They might have put the flags up for the tv cameras just in case anyone thought it was a nationalist area  ;D

Ran it last year, never again!
Out by the coast is nice as you say but gets a bit boring, the town is a kip alright!

The Burger King roundabout is MR2's pride and joy.
