Just out of curiosity, did Dr. Sigerson (whom Strabane GCF was named in honour of) by any chance have Icelandic parentage? It always sounded to me like an Anglanised version of Sigursen.

Indeed. Originally Sigurdson (Norway) --> Segerson (Kerry) --> Sigerson (Derry/Tyrone).

I was close.

Of course, the first White Settlement in North America was Viking. Lief Erikson, and all that.
Stand up for the Ulstermen!

Despite the sendings off (sending offs) Moy v Eglish was entertaining enough fare. The Moy needed those points alot more than Eglish.

I don't know about that. It's pretty tight at the bottom now.

Everybody up to Trillick could still go down. Bottom goes down automatically, next two playoff.

Trillick- 8
Eglish- 8
Moy- 7
Greencastle- 7
Derrylaughan 6
Moortown- 4
Cookstown- 2

Think it was 1 11 till 06 in favour of killeeshill,in truth killeeshil 20 points the better team, missed an awful lot

result from the Errigal v Killeeshil game ??

Was wondering for a second, until I realised it was Errigal's Thirds that were playing Killeshil. :)

A Cousin of my Dad told me that Errigal nick players from Killeshil, Beragh and Eskra. And to think that the Club was a merger of three Parishes that initially didn't want to play with each other.  ::)
Stand up for the Ulstermen!

Ardboe's game against Coalisland taught me one thing;

That Johnny Curran can lose the rag at any given opportunity. It certainly argue the case for neutral Linesmen/Umpires. Turloch Wylie was given a few 'verbals' by King Frank and Stevie Coney at Half Time after the Goal (which was defo Squareball imo).

I would imagine the bottom two won't change. Can't see Eglish or Trillick being dragged into it. Between the other three for the last spot I would say. I would imagine Moortown would rather have a win against Eglish next wewek in the league rather than the championship!!
I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

Radda bout yeee

Heard the moy behaved like a pack of thugs tonight.... I actually like this new attitude they have - stand up for yourselves boys! It's been a long time coming!!

And we still have to play in the Moy. ::)

Need to stop chittering at each other considering how fired up The Moy have been this Year.

I took a look at the last four games for a few of those teams

Moy seem to have the most difficult last 4 matches Carrickmore, Errigal, Ardboe and Coalisland (away)

Greencastle have Trillick (a), Moortown, Ardboe and Eglish

Derrylaughan have Clonoe (a), Coalisland, Eglish and Trillick (a)

Moortown have Greencastle (a), Eglish (a), Killyclogher (a) and Carrickmore

Too close to call at this stage.

Errigal's catchment area is one parish only, oddly enough called Errigal Ciaran!

As for "nicking" players, dunno about Killeeshil but in the case of Beragh it's likely to be a claim from Sixmilecross where some players would live closer to Dunmoyle than St. Mary's and some others would be at Carrickmore. And I've never heard of Eskra being allegedly plundered.

I think a lot of people reckon Peter Harte should be playing for Eskra.

hsthompson

Well he does live in eskra, but sure he used to live in omagh too and still played underage with errigal. Anyone know the actual rules on how he's allowed to do that?

I'd like to think that Greencastle could get wins against Trillick and Moortown, have a stab at Eglish and maybe get lucky against Ardboe.
