orangeman with your experience would you deem that being an obvious manipulation of the media by someone with a vested interest or just shi@@ talk by the journalist.  Is there somebody behind all these bizarre statements aboiut a man who has hardly kicked a ball this year.  I find it all very puzzling.

IMO there is a campaign to get SON out again - look at all the interviews by Tyrone players - everyone says ( or has been told to say ) that SON will be out again soon.

MH's national league match programme notes kept making reference to SON coming back.

I wish the media would let it rest, he's not coming back. All this extra pressure will just re-enforce his decision.

I agree but I think they are doing this as they are lazy gits who write 50 words about nothing and add something unrelated to make it seem like they are doing something.  their editors have no idea what they are writing about so just let them at it. It's mad what they get away with sometimes.

There'd be a large element of truth in that Zapasita. Getting paid to write dung !

Wee Roddy

People are talking bout Carman, Dromore etc but Clonoe showed to me on Sunday that they will not be far away. Sunday showed to me from a Carmen perspective that no matter if a teams forward unit is big sharpe or whatever, we have the defenders to cope. It is testimant that 2 off last years better players who got injured recently have not got back in and i cant see them getting in unless for injuries. I think our weakness lies up front and in a fast game i do not think that men well into their 30s is the answer all the time!

Redhand Santa

Does anybody else think Hughes views in the Tyrone times should be scrapped? The man is making money out of printing gossip and taking cheap shots at referees/county players etc who haven't got such a public forum to defend themselves in. His column is used purely as a divisive weapon and contributes nothing to the local GAA in Tyrone. I wouldn't be surprised if apart from contributing nothing himself he was putting of referees from continuing with their jobs.

He doesn't even check his facts before printing them and if such a reporter existed in England and was printing such rumours about English premiership players he'd be facing hefty legal fees. Today for example he asked the question was Mulligan sent off for verbal and physical abuse of a referee. It was obvious from the article that he'd picked it up from here without even bothering to check its accuracy. He was very quick to blacken the name of the player who has contributed much to the GAA scene in Tyrone without even researching it. Apart from that he also said Ryan Mellon was sent off during the Moy game last week versus Pomeroy and talked of a melee, neither of which was true. He has been taking digs at Dooher getting off with suspension, again based on internet rumours and without knowing what happened.

It's hard to believe Hughes as one of the main GAA reporters in the Times doesn't attend any games. He was complaining only last week of the possibility of having to watch the Tyrone championship game on a snowy picture if it wasn't on the BBC. He has aimed endless sly digs towards Mickey Harte who contributes a huge amount of time to GAA in Tyrone free of charge compared to Hughes who cant even be bothered going to watch the county team or his local club play. And god forbid don't ask him to buy a ticket for your local club. He comes across most weeks as a shit stirrer out to cause rows in the county. Is it any wonder the county squad don't want to be associated with the Times any more.

KIDDO 4

Tyrone collected the first of what they hope will be much silverware when they had two points to spare in the Ulster Minor League final over a gallant Meath side at Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday afternoon.
As was the case in the original tie there was never much between the sides with the winners holding a slender one point advantage at the break.
Early in the second half Meath turned things around to lead but on the day Tyrone were the better sideand they would have won by a more comfortable margin had they not kicked a dozen wides over the course of the sixty minutes.
This in essence was a fine team performance from Tyrone and was ideal preparation ahead of their forthcoming Ulster championship meeting with Down with the likes of Peter Harte, Niall McKenna, Ryan Pickering and Kyle Coney in particular catching the eye.
lightning
Tyrone almost got off to a lightning start when Pickering, Coney and Diarmuid McNulty combined to carve open the Meath defence for Matthew Donnelly to race in on goal but his shot cracked off the left hand post with keeper Padraig Curran beaten.
Meath corner forward Paddy Gilsenan opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a fisted point but moments later Coney hit a peach from the left wing with the outside of the boot to level matters.
It was the Royal county though who were making the most of their limited possession and efforts from Gilsenan and Michael Newman had them two ahead by the ninth minute.

Tyrone though started to get into their stride and points from McKenna, Donnelly and Coney were followed by a brilliant goal from the latter as he crashed the ball to the net after catching a high ball in from Pickering.
Meath corner back William Carry and substitute Mark Collins reduced the deficit to the minimum and that's the way it remained at the break after McNulty and Gilsenan had exchanged points.
Within thirty seconds of the restart a converted thirty metre free from Mark Battersby had the sides level before midfielder Damian Carroll put them in front for the first time since the opening score of the game.
Collins then edged the Royals two in front in the ninth minute but they were to add just one more point for the remainder of the tie as Tyrone seized control.
traded
Coney and Donnelly drew Tyrone level before substitute Paddy McNeice gave them a lead that they were never to lose.
Brilliant play from Coney saw him go past four challenges before traded passes with McKenna to fire over an inspirational point before McKenna capped a forty metre run with a fine score as well.
Meath ended a fifteen minute barren spell with a Battersby point but that proved to be the last score of the game as Tyrone took the title.
