I seen on Twitter that a few people said it was the intention to play games on All Ireland weekend that doesn't involve any county minors. Not sure how true that is or if is true how many games would actually go ahead.

Result:

Strabane 3-07
Pomeroy 1-08

Question for men who know. If ur sent off with straight red in ur last championship match last year do u miss ur first one the following year. Is there a rule about missing a game in same competition?

QuoteThe final few minutes consisted of some unnecessary dirty tackles and off the ball incidents from a few Dromore players, one resulting in a straight red card to Cathal Mc Carron but Errigal Ciaran kept their heads held high and refuse to retaliate and seconds later the final whistle sounded and Errigal Ciaran were crowned Tyrone SFC champions of 2012.

Interesting!

Yeah, we got an email to say that teams with no minors play the weekend of the AI final.
Those with minors are out the following weekend.
Owen Roe O'Neills GAC, Leckpatrick, Tyrone

blewuporstuffed

that would be only a 5 or 6 day turnaround then for any teams that play next weekend in the first round and have no minors?
i wouldnt think they will play any games on the sunday of the allireland, so probably friday or saturday evening games

Enda clarke of greencastle would be a better club midfielder than cassidy for a start.
Can see donaghmore beating augher, after all augher are like the aghyarn of old really only performing at home.
Forward line is questionable to with cloghers darragh kavanagh being their chief marksman but from seeing him for omagh cbs, st ciarans ballygawley and tyrone minors he is very easily curtailed.
Jamie Donnelly is arguably the best free kick taker in tyrone but can frequently be uninvolved in open play, while darragh donnelly has gone back alot from his tyrone minor form of 2010.
So can't look past a rejuvanated donaghmore team.

Smoke signals must have been drifting in the wrong direction as Strabane and Aghaloo won their respective games yesterday!!

Donaghmore are in serious trouble. Completely put to the sword at the weekend. Augher looked Impressive but its hard to tell how good they really are as Donaghmore had the towel threw in from early on and id doubt the winners of Errigal v Dromore will take Augher lightly.
Stewartstown v Brackaville and Killeeshil v Aghaloo the eye catching draws for the quarter finals.

The draws came through before these matches were over. Not sure why there was such a big rush to make them, they could have waited until next Sunday evening.

barelegs

I would imagine they made the draw so soon to allow for a bit of forward planning. Not ideal but if we want to get the thing played off then probably not a bad idea. Tyrone are in the Ulster preliminary round this year so there's a bit more pressure on than normal

thought we did well yesterday against kildress and had a strong 2nd half showing - compared to a lot of our league games this season in which we have died in the 2nd half.

think we finished the game with 5 minors playing which augurs well for the future.

what did others think of the ref?

brackaville will be very tough opposition in the 1/4 finals, they should have been beat by pomeroy and dungannon in recent games but they hung in there and got the results needed. the roes will also be looking to avenge the championship defeat from 3 years ago. should be a great game!

i thought mickey mulgrew at midfield was motm.

yes gareth played well too and kildress probably have a right to feel aggrieved that he was playing, but it wasnt our fault.
the trillick ref in league game v rock put down the wrong devlin in his report and therefore cathal devlin (an important player for us too) has had to serve the 4 week suspension instead.

our club came clean to the county board and said that it should be gareth that should serve the suspension - but they said nothing could be done about it as gareth wasn't the one cited in the report.
