Some half-wit who lives near me and sports a tea party "don't tread on me" flag outside his house is currently driving about the place (in Queens, NYC) with a huge US and confederate flag on the back of his pick-up truck. I see lots of tshirts and bumper stickers about jailing Hillary and liberals being idiots.

I've seen similar in other areas of the US, especially Florida. Then you get the open carry nuts. Rarely any corresponding displays from liberals.

Maybe it's just me, but the conservative white males who sport this type of nonsense seem much more aggressive and in your face than other groups.

Anyone who feels the need to fly a confederate flag or open carry a gun needs a serious mental health evaluation. 

Yes, you are correct that most liberals aren't as in your face about their views, but the behavior of some of Bernies supporters left a lot to be desired.  They are all for free speech, as long as it's an opinion they agree with

What is most striking about Trump is how far he goes from orthodoxy.  Zionism is an elite thing that works because of money and power. They can buy off everyone in elite politics and get them to swear loyalty but they have no influence on social media.

Israel is losing support on the American left, particularly among younger people. Netanyahu's antics in the US Congress and his disrespectful treatment of Obama have only worsened the situation. More Americans are coming to see Netanyahu as the right wing extremist he is. There were huge street protests during the massacre in Gaza a few years ago. They didn't get much media coverage but they did happen.

I think the US is coming face to face with the fruition of issues it has ignored for years is race, guns, healthcare costs, neoliberalism, climate and income distribution. And everything is chaotic. Neither Trump nor Clinton are even remotely qualified to deal with any of this.
the US needs someone like FDR or Eisenhower with the power to break up special interests and introduce coherent change.
