To think of the bigger picture here. Why in the world would an 18 year old have a gun.
And if his mother really questions why he was killed she obviously didn't know what her kid was up to. Parental failure yet again.
Can't blame the cops for unruly kids.

Unfortunately there's 10,11 and 12 year old with guns in some of these cities

Sweet. The rest of the world can absolve itself completely from any responsibility.

More turkey.

Another shooting in Missouri, another innocent law abiding citizen killed, more protests against the cops. This is going to keep going.

Which NBA team will make a stand first?

Did he not point his weapon at the cops? It's funny how you know he is innocent

His mother said the was the victim with his girlfriend (she would wouldn't she?) while the cops said it was two men and one pointed a gun at the cops (they would wouldn't they?).

At this stage the stories are incompatible so we don't know who is wrong.

If he had a gun on him and did anything with it, you would have to be sympathetic towards the cops, especially after the shootings in NY. However if the cop completely misread the situation then you have another straw going on a creaking camels back.

I believe they have released footage of the man pointing the weapon at the police

Well that knocks that on the head then. Cops are fine in this one.
Apparantly that's incorrect
If what I've read is correct ( can't trust the media) - the video evidence was no use - too dark to determine if the kid pulled or showed a gun
Cop was supposedly issued with a body cam and a car cam - neither of which was turned on.

I don't think parents can always know where their kids are, esp if the kids get involved in 'gangs' unbeknownst to the parent(s)
But
Too many kids and parents are growing up looking to be the victim and point the finger if something goes wrong ( including where they are themselves guilty of a transgression)- this includes people in Ireland too ! ( ok we don't have guns abound - yet!)

The footage from the garage forecourt is online and you are correct that it isn't as cut and dried as made out above. Typically the action appears just out of shot although a lot of people are latching on to the fact that you can *just* make the guy out raising his right arm.
Will post a link.

Couple of genuine questions.

1. What is a 'routine business check'?

2. Is a 'routine business check' normally conducted while off duty?

Hard to make much out of that.
Yip.

Were the guy and the girl the two involved?

Or was it actually all 4 that walked across the petrol station.

Certainly it seems strange that 4 people who walk fairly normally across a petrol (gas) station can suddenly end up in a shooting.

Also the mother of the victim's statement regarding the girlfriend being their seems plausible.

But we don't see anything of the incident. The cop doesn't seem to do much in the way of 'giving chase' as he said he did.

The buck stops with the parents. If they aren't capable of raising them they shouldn't have them in the first place. They certainly don't add anything to the planet?

It IS the parents responsibility. I'd be a bit more understanding if this was someone who was older but at 18 a parent should be still in tune with what goes on under their roof, where their kid is at night and who their kid is hanging out with.

Ferrero Rocher anyone??

We used to send kids to college in Ireland at 16.

Jeez muppet
Will you two get a room and stop criticsising everything each other posts just because it's one of you - you two are draining the spirit of Christmas outta me !!

Def parents and bad parenting has some part to play sometimes , but even well brought up kids end up doing/dealing drugs/falling foul of the law etc

Yes muppet I was one of those younger ones heading to college - but was smart enough to know right from wrong. . I see parents around here abjecting parenting responsibility and their kids are future jailbirds/law transgressors ( in trouble already at 11-13 with the cops)

Too much bad parenting in USA - but that's not always the problem. It's just one potential contributing factor. USA in many ways is just a fcuked up country.

There are worse places IMO - tin pot countries where the cops are all powerful and the locals can get off with anything if they are wealthy, well connected and publicly apologise ....( for attempted murder, shootings, blackmail, extortion, embezzlement. Political office corruption)
Places like Aruba , Jamaica , Cayman Islands etc
..........
