You are considerably more sympathetic to religion than I am. What do you fear so much in terms of religious issues?

Because its an extreme fundamentalist group not recognised by the other Christian Churches. Because Romney is or was a Bishop in this Church. Because one of their beliefs is the second coming cannot happen until Mormons are in key positions of power in America. Because it is difficult to serve two masters - America and his god.

People with attitudes like that have been keeping Catholics out of the white-house.

Debates' Score

Obama 2  Romney 1

Unfortunately for President Obama, he lost the crucial one--the first, but tonight he won handsomely.

If you think Bo won two of those debates you are fecked in the head Orais.

Romney looked Presidential last night, BO was a great man for the sound bites and for interrupting Romney, Obamanation got his facts wrong and Romney hammered him on it.

Obama won feck all last night, they were both average at best, lying through your teeth on foreign policy, domestic policy and destroying the country for future generations does not a good President make.

I am sure you are all delighted that Obama claims to have  a stronger relationship with Israel than ever before. ;)

Obama is a nightmare, unparalleled debt, lies, big government & he even apologized to the American people for losing touch with them, and you lot want this chube elected again?

You do realise that all the polls after the debate (CBS, CNN), showed Obama winning handily. And if you checked your facts, you'd see the size of the government had decreased in a big way under Obama.

Two conservative media outlets - Forbes and Marketwatch - show that it has decreased big time. He is in fact the small government spender since Eisenhower.

CBS......CNN, what about CNBC? If you are cursed with looking at only the liberal media, then of course Obamanation won, i look at it all, I look at the debates, takes notes & I thought that Obama won on some points and Romney won on other points, to me it was a draw.

Obama is desperate, Romnesia is great except BO told far more porkie pies than did Romney, Obama is a disaster, was a disaster and always be a disaster, he is brutal!

I expect the Prez will win, given his abominal record I can only assume that the socailists on here want him to win so that he can further fcuk the country up, if so job done.

I wanted this idiot to do well, I am on record as saying as much, he did fcuk all to work with the republicans and as a result he got nothing done......................all romney did in Mass was to have the best education system in the country, what did BO do? feck all is what he did!

For the THIRD time: CNBC is NOT LIBERAL! Its a Wall Street business channel.

But anyway, that aside, tell us... what efforts did the Republicans make to work with Obama??

From the very beginning they were determined to block anything and everything he did. The Dems negotiated with the likes of Collins, Snowe and other Republican moderates for months over health care, dropping the public option and so forth, and how many Republican votes did it get him? For their very own ideas i.e. the mandate, which they were very much for up until Obama came along. They just weren't interested in anything that might end up being seen as a win for Obama. And that is before we even get to the fiscal cliff last year (not even one dollar of increased taxes for every ten dollars of cuts was acceptable to the GOP in the debates). And have you forgotten the ongoing birther/Muslim shite which has been encouraged with a wink and a nod by the very top levels of the Republican leadership?

Speaking of which... Trump, professional attention whore with presumably with another tv show or something to promote, has something VERY BIG... HUGE... on the way tomorrow about Obama that MAY change the election... apparently! Maybe the birth cert IS a fake!  ::)

As for last night's debate, on what points did Romney win the debate? He echoed Obama on almost every important issue FFS, once again moderating his rhetoric for primetime (the campaign official who spoke about Romney doing an "etch a sketch" after the primaries wasn't bullshitting!!!). I wouldn't particularly hold Romney's lack of detailed foreign policy knowledge against him, as after all, Obama has been dealing with this shit daily for the past nearly four years and he hasn't. Everyone acknowledged that Romney hammered Obama in the first debate. Be a f**king man and accept that Obama shaded last night. Its not like its going to affect the race much anyway.

And spare us the socialism crap. I've asked you this before: what exactly should Obama have done when he took over in 2009? What do you think McCain would have done? What would Bush have done if it had all went down 12 months earlier? You're full of abusive labels for Obama, so you obviously must have some remedies for what was the worst financial meltdown in 80 years that apparently escaped him.

I hope you are taking the piss. The top education system in MA was in place long before Romney was governor and was still there after he left - he had nothing to do with its creation. Romney taking credit for that was worse than Gore taking credit for creating the internet. Then again the education is so bad elsewhere there's plenty that will believe this stuff. Safe to say some of those potential voters won't be Harvard or MIT bound anytime soon.

Ex-Congressional Budget Director Says Obama Has Best Chance of Avoiding Fiscal Cliff.
With the country facing a "fiscal cliff" in which taxes are set to skyrocket by hundreds of billions of dollars, President Barack Obama may be the better presidential candidate to ensure Congress does not fail to get a deal done that would keep the nation from going over the edge, said Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who oversaw the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office under President George W. Bush. If the country goes over the cliff, insurance companies — like thousands of other businesses — could see their investment portfolios and balance sheets take a significant hit.

Another interesting reaction from an unlikely source - Douglas J. "Doug" Holtz-Eakin is an American economist, former professor, former Director of the Congressional Budget Office and former chief economic policy adviser to U.S. Senator John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign speaking to the ACLI this week - hardly a bunch of liberal pinko types ;)

Indiana Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock said pregnancies resulting from rape are part of God's plan, tearfully explaining that he only supports abortions when a mother's life is in danger.

"I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen," Mourdock said during Tuesday's Senate debate, choking up.

Makes sense to me, IF you're a believer. If life and death are all part of your god's plan, surely that includes conception?

So by that line of thinking the holocaust was part of God's plan. Cue arrival of Mr Sheehy
the Famine was god's plan. So too was AIDS. What a deluded view of things.

Maybe you should narrow your quote tags Stew. Because JFK wasn't a bishop, nor does the RC Church state that once Catholics are in power Jesus will come again out of the mid West of America....

the argument against JFK at the time was his accountability to the Church / Pope. My point was more about how Mormons are supposed to get into powerful positions. Once they do what will be asked of them?

I think his corporate sponsors will be calling the shots not his church. I have little time for any churches, but given recent work in the office maybe it is time to give the churches a rattle at it! Besides Jesus coming back from the Mid-West in cowboy hat would be pretty cool.

Are you suggesting that a small religious sect in America could have a powerful and clandestine influence upon American policy???

Because that would just be crazy!!
