I don't know. All I know is that when you scan the top 50 transfer fees of all time, there's clearly no correlation between transfer fees and success.

The fees and wages these days are obviously a piss take, time will tell whether he justifies it, if he takes the league by storm it'll be considered money well spent

It carries with it risk but there's also strong potential for a lot of reward.  If he's a success then there won't be much said about the fee, much like VVD when his fee was questioned (albeit a fair bit lower than this one).  Like VVD he's a game changer for Liverpool with the particular skillset he brings.

Is the transfer fee that ridiculous in comparison to 25 year old Grealish going for £100 million in 2021 or Enzo Fernandez/Declan Rice going for over £100 million or Pogba at 89 million back in the day. Liverpool's record in the transfer market in last 5/6 years would give me hope it will work out. 

Wirtz is 22 and if things didn't work out given his age I would imagine that they will still be able to get a large portion of the fee back?
