Quote from: Marksman1 on June 12, 2025, 03:54:14 PMHearing reports from the weekend there from the Naomh Padraig and St. Endas minor game. Young lad from cushendun got a shocking injury in a scuffle. 1 player took his helmet off and threw it over the fence then his brother broke a stick over his head. Heard he needed 18 stitches. Deserves a long ban for that!

There was a serious injury to the lad during the row that happened. It looked pretty bad in what was a full on free for all between players on the pitch to which supporters got involved as well.

Very serious incident all round.

Give North Antrim and St Endas the opportunity to deal with it and go to the police. Who was the referee? He will have it in his report. You can't miss something like that.

Is it not all county at that level?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

I think so.

I see they are down to play at minor level this weekend.

Jonkunlon

No. Was North Antrim competition.

Gael-in-exile

Are minor hurling and Darragh cup now both U18?

Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Fantastic Darragh Cup final last night. That particular Cushendall squad seems to keep rolling on and Loughiel had 6/7 real good performances, their No 11 Oisin Connolly was superb.
Have to say how good Skinny was in the middle, kept a tight eye but he was helped by 2 teams who never put a stick outta place.

Very good ref.

Good to see these rivalries at underage and no one team completely dominating - should make the next few years interesting.

So after today. Glenariffe are Div 2 champs and up to Div 1 for the first time since 2013.  Div 3 is a shoot out between Dunloy and Ballycastle reserves.  Div 4 is a shoot out between St Brigids and Rossa reserves.  Div 1 title race is actually the most open race with a few teams in the mix.  Which is ironic given that none of them will really care about winning a league title.  Relegation wise in Div 1 it's between St Endas and Ballycran.  Div 2 is between Cloughmills and sarsfields and St Endas reserves are more or less gone in Div 3.  It'll be a big few weeks for some of those sides.

Ballycran will be relying on us beating St Enda's next Wednesday night and them beating us on the following Sunday.

That would leave their final game v St Enda's a winner takes all encounter up in Hannahstown.

We need another 2 points somewhere to be on the safe side.

Yes its certainly looking pretty grim for us, after yesterdays performance its hard to see us turning a corner any time soon. We are no more up against it than any other club so cant really make any excuses.  As for our reserves, 80% probably never train so we should never have elected to play D3.

I belive ballygalget are already safe?

Only 1 up 1 down - no playoff is what I've heard?

In which case ballygalget on 6 cant believe caught by ballycran on 1

Ballycran need to beat both Portaferry and St Endas to stay up

St Endas need to win 1 game to stay up (or balycran failing to win both)

Thats how i see it?

Na Glinntí Glasa

I was at our game yesterday at Rossa. Entertaining game from both sides. Barry Winters let the game go, much to the annoyance of some on either side at times, but overall it was a decent game.

Rossa played well in the first half and fully deserved to be in at the break with the lead they had. The wind was a factor in the game but it didn't make or break the result for either side.

Dunloy brought on Nigel Elliott and young Oisin McCallion at the break and it made a big difference to the game. A first game at this level for Oisin and bagged 1-01 with his first two touches. One for the future for sure.

The Darragh Cup this last number of years has become a really big fixture at Minor level in North Antrim. Theres always big crowds in attendance in Cushendall for the final and its seen a mix of teams win it at stages - Dunloy, Oisins, Loughgiel etc.

Its great to see for the Darragh family that Johns memory lives strong for the clubs as Malachy presents the trophy to the winning captain each year.

Also it was 11 years from the last time Cushendall won it which i couldnt believe.
