Not going away.
Antrim are right to take this stance I'm behind it. Ulster GAA are a disgrace this 13 years.
BUT, Andy in that interview looks so content he has avoided this fixture and more importantly for him the hype takes the heat off him for what has so far been a dismal few years, and we unfortunately are getting no bang for our buck!

Quote from: bannside on March 07, 2025, 07:25:47 PMRest as in the sound of silence! Maybe they put out a statement backing footballers I must have missed!

I think you are linking silence to not giving a toss very easily and while I understand where you come from I think your frustration is colouring your view.
It would be great if the hurlers came out with a statement and they maybe yet in time,  but they have a few things to focus on of their own, namely fighting off relegation and anything taking away from that may be considered losing their focus.

You have your view on that Gael, and I hold another. Fair enough. But to say coming out with a statement in support of their footballers would suddenly take away their focus, I can't reconcile that. The two things are stand alone surely. Yes/No?

Hectic

Well if they are saying nothing to maintain focus I'd hate to see how they would be playing if they lost focus.

imtommygunn

The focus needs to be on the last two league games. It's massively important we do everything we can to not go back to division four. The armagh game should wait until after that.

Yes they are but once the hurlers make a statement there will be a media focus on it and no doubt questions coming or interviews requested around it.
That's what they'll be looking to avoid. My guess is after Sundays game they may say something.

All opinion obviously but I still think your initial view on not giving a toss is misplaced - not purposely certainly but through frustration with the whole scenario. Ideally the whole county to be out backing Corrigan is what's wanted and there's a hurling gap there so I see where it comes from.

Fair enough Gael. We need to be united in this. Footballers problem today could be hurlers problem some other day. We are the same county.

True and hopefully they will come out. My only hope is that if UC hold strong and we end up with the farce of not fielding then there's allowances made to play Taitleann.

BigGreenField

The UC have been given a bit of a pass by the media so far on this. That needs to change and they begin to be challenged on why Antrim continue to be punished for the failure of the UC to deliver Casement.

Duine Inteacht Eile

Timing.

They played the sectarian card at the right time.
Tapping into the confirmation bias of your own community is a sure fire way to get support, and keep fingers of blame away from yourself. The DUP are a banker of a bogeyman.
It doesn't matter that they have only recently held the relevant ministry in the Assembly, in the 15 year saga. It doesn't matter that we are asking them to quadruple our original funding.......it is their fault we have no Casement. And apparently it should be a red line for Sinn Fein (who held the ministry for many years of the 15 yet didn't deliver it) and perhaps they should walk out of Stormont over it.

The mind boggles.

Paddy Cunningham, a teacher in West Belfast is better placed than most to make some great points in this podcast. Hard to argue with any of it.
