A person decides to have life-changing, irreversible surgery, even though it will subject them to a lifetime of abuse, harassment, discrimination, possible violence, and a non-zero chance of being murdered.

A non-zero chance of being murdered? What the f**k is that? We all have a non-zero chance of being murdered.

Are you trying to say that transgender people are more likely to be murdered? Where's the evidence for that?
Non-zero  ;D

As deranged a comment as I've seen on here in a while. It's what happens when you're typing faster than your brain can think.

Still to hear from the lad who thought Biden as bad as Trump! Seems to think he can walk in and take over an area just like that. They learned nothing from Iraq or Afghanistan. Used to be people saw Russia bad, USA good, nope. It was Russia very bad, USA bad. They were no good guys. You compare Trump on his power rant, with the way Nelson Mandela tried to Integrate S Africa back Into World Society. Some difference in the 2 men.

Almost half of transgender and gender diverse (TGD) individuals have been sexually assaulted in their lifetime. The incidence of sexual violence is even higher among TGD people of color.1

Transgender people are over four times more likely than cisgender people to experience violent victimization, including rape, sexual assault, and aggravated or simple assault, according to a new study by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law. In addition, households with a transgender person had higher rates of property victimization than cisgender households.2

Findings suggest that transgender people overall may not face a higher risk of being murdered than do cisgender people, but that young transgender women of color almost certainly face a higher chance of being murdered.3

Yeah, Trump has been doubling down on the Gaza thing, even ruling out a right of return. This despite an initial attempt by his minions to "tidy up" what he said in the Netanyahu press conference.

QuoteThe rules specify that when we have a gender-nonbinary candidate or officer, the nonbinary individual is counted as neither male nor female, and the remaining six officers must be gender balanced,"

I'm sure you can work out what 1/7 is in percentages.

Quote from: Eamonnca1 on February 11, 2025, 05:02:50 PMThe idea that they may actually be qualified and have worked just as hard as anyone else to get there is not even considered.

Well here is the news: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is not about making sure the unqualified black woman gets the job. It's about making sure the qualified black person gets the job rather than the unqualified white guy with a rich dad.

Pretending positive discrimination doesn't exist doesn't help either.

As long as there are two equivalent candidates, the candidate from an under-represented part of the social spectrum getting the post is the correct decision.

But if two candidates are not equivalent, then the candidate from the under-represented part of the social spectrum should not be equalised due to that, then get the decision.

I think that difference, real or imagined, is the thing people have a problem with.

Massive cuts in Medicaid/SNAP/school meals, all to pay for a fraction of another massive, unneeded, budget-busting corporate and wealthy class tax cut. With the performative nonsense on the Gulf, Denali, Kennedy Center and so on thrown in as window dressing and vainglory.

But hey, Trump is for the working class.

Especially as per Musk's minions it's now "cool to be racist" again.

Eye watering cost to the tax payer for him to attend the Superbowl and he left early.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

RFK Jr is the new Secretary of HHS. Only Republican to vote against him was Mitch McConnell!  :o

So much for the hopes for the likes of Bill Cassidy, an actual physician.

I'll keep an open mind on the food safety stuff, although I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that the GOP will actually let him do anything positive on that. Same with drug availability. Insurance market, not much hope of help for regular people either.

As for the medical side, I'm just glad I've a sibling and an in-law who are reputable and serious doctors that we can turn to when they start actually implementing their conspiracy theories on the field of public health policy.

Did we get to the bottom of the condom expenditures to Gaza?  ;D

There's a province in Mozambique called Gaza where they were sent to help stop the prevention of HIV apparently

Yes, of course, but never let the truth get in the way of a good story that 68 million people believe

They are a complete bunch of hypocrites, when Michele Obama was first lady she started a vegetable garden in the white house and invited school kids to get involved to encourage healthier, less processed diets. She also tried encouraging school districts to use healthier food for school dinners.

This all got nothing but abuse and insults from Republicans.

Now they are pretending that they give a damn unhealthy food. The reason for all the chemicals in American food is that more profitable for large agribusiness corporations to do that and Republicans won't do anything to change that.
