Don't be coming on here expecting intelligent debates, this for for mainly winding people up

How have the professional refs been doing these last few games? Have seen some mares on the telly both weekends
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Speaking to a club ref yesterday who was reffing an in house game elsewhere, he had the view that early stages was as much for ref's as players and I'd agree with that much as we might wish ref's to be perfect from the get go.

He also viewed having covered a number of club training sessions about the place that it was going to be carnage (in terms of free awarded) in the club game for the first 3 months. Will have to wait and see in that one.

No issues with ours so far

Been caught at least once for a score but so far so good

After round two and 30+ games the noise levels haven't been too loud so take that as a positive

Are you going to ref this year MR2 or do you think your view of the issues will bias your judgement?

That's a question to any ref and not a dig

Bias in what way?

But I'll be out, we haven't that many refs so it would be unfair to leave. Maybe if we did have more people that felt they could take up the whistle without abuse then I could slip away unnoticed lol..

fact fact check. If Antrim players done as much yapping they would've got Fermanagh yapping more then the ref would've had yap the ball up 50 metres and Antrim would've yapped it over the bar for the equalizer.

Bias in the way that if you feel for example the rule on yapping at refs is too harsh then maybe you won't bring the ball 50 metres forward every time

That's my interpretation, there's questioning my decision and then there's moaning about it, I'm happier for everyone to be respectful and move on..

also seen some instances where the ref thought moving the ball forward because the person fouled got up and ran into a lad who couldn't get out of the way. I'll not be moving it if it's deliberate

Quote from: Sportacus on February 02, 2025, 11:23:43 PMMaybe Cargin are just a good well balanced club team rather than a team with three or four players who are a cut above. The Errigal game exposed a lot, they were second best in every department.  They'd have three or four players as good as most already on the county panel, but they wouldn't be miles better individually.  I've always hoped for big things from Conhuir Johnston but he's having his troubles with injury.

Everyone can have an off day as even the Great Errigal side found out
Three Cargin players on the panel unfortunately carrying slight knocks at the minute but I'm sure we will see them in saffron soon(one of them kept Darragh Canavan to a point) I know some who were on panel last year weren't asked up and in my view the best footballer in Antrim Sean O'Neill wasn't even thought about,Angry Andy knows best

on the sideline

When does the Antrim club season start?

Na Glinntí Glasa

Football league starts 16th March with Div 1 only playing. All the football leagues then playing on the 23rd of March.

Still to be officially confirmed but thats whats been run with at the moment

country bumpkin

As stated by La na Pairc previous...County management did not make invitation to Sean O'Neil to join the panel nor was Jamie Gribbin and Conor Johnston was not invited.

Only three received invites and are within.
Conhuir attended last year and was asked to train under injury which added aggravated to such an extent that he is to attend a specialist in Dublin soon.
Pat Shivers who seems to be out of favour with a few on this board also aggravated injury in the Saffron on the single outing he was given last term was not recalled...

As I said three from Cargin were invited and all answered the call....

Was Jamie not injured for a good bit?

Jamie G was out for a while but had recovered by the end of the season.
Was  in the gym all winter but never received any invitation by the county.....

Obviously the manager doesn't see a place for them in the squad then, end of the day he is the man who picks it and the team so he will have his reasons.

Poor Cargin, any time I'm on here they are whinging about something
