Quote from: J70 on December 02, 2024, 10:43:12 AMTrump campaigned on releasing the insurrectionists. He got elected anyway.

But yeah, Biden should not have done this.

I've said before, the pardon stuff needs to be regulated and overseen. Right now it's completely arbitrary and open to corruption, as so blatantly exhibited by Trump openly using it to impede investigations in his first term. Clinton had a whopper or two also.

I am not actually sure I agree. Total witch hunt by the Republicans, and as outlined in the statement by the president - no actual precedent for the criminal penalties they were pursuing for the crimes which Hunter Biden had committed. It was a modern day political lynching, and I don't know any parent (or even right minded president) who would have left him open to continued persecution after leaving office. He'd have ended up like Sean Connery's character in the Rock, locked away for life.

In any case, he's just trying to help Trump and the republicans by removing all and any nonsensical distractions so they can maybe, ya know - run the country (into the ground).

Trump's last administration was one big criminal enterprise. His incoming administration will be no different. I will not listen to lectures about the rule of law from the current crop of rethuglicans. "Party of law and order" my ass.

Seriously. Even if he didn't pardon him the Fox News crowd would still find a way to turn it into a criticism. F*** them. F*** them to high heaven. Joe absolutely did the right thing.

It was a political prosecution anyway. The only reason they went after Hunter was to get at Joe. Not the first time the rethuglicans have demonstrated their "family values" by acting like mob bosses and going after their opponents' relatives.

Appears that way alright. From January Trump will waste little time to use his re-election to pardon himself and others.  Fox news,OANN etc will dress it up as the right thing to do.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Exactly. When the inevitable happens and Trump does it, it'll be "brave political leadership."

Whether it's true or not some Republicans are claiming that the pardon opens him up to subpoena

If he fails to appear he can be jailed

The Republicans are about to unleash political lawfare like we've never seen before

No one was held to account for the Russia Collusion hoax-tick tock

The fact that this is such a thing is so 'American', it's insane... Anarchy could be looming down the line

Ireland and the UK both have pardon/clemency laws. In fact Michael D has issued 2 in his tenure (albeit for historical crimes).

Didn't work out so well for Hillary. Dems should have taken the gloves off years ago.

My main gripe with Obama was he didn't get the sword out and ram through the healthcare bill as he wanted it. He let the Rethuglicans run out the clock by giving concession after concession in the hope of getting a bipartisan bill, when all along they had no intention of giving a black president anything. He should have listened to Pelosi who knew what kind of people they were dealing with and how there's no reasoning with them.

How anyone would want to be associated with either side is beyond my comprehension.

Can we not come together and agree that democracy is being subverted left right and centre by every party and this is just another example of that.

I can't make sense of how partisan people are on this topic.

What part of "we heard you the first time" do you not get?

You have no shame
A man with any principles could never cuck for genocide Joe. He can do no wrong in your eyes and you a parent. Your moral compass is broken.

You're a dictatorship fanboy so I'm not sure why you're concerned about the subversion of democracy so much. Is it the charade that annoys you so?

I can't see pelosi of being much use to him on anything, bar insider trading. She seems to Mostly cry and moan about republicans and then do similar practices.
