Quote from: Spike on October 13, 2024, 06:50:34 PMCargin's main players are still the best players in the county. Kobo still the best defender in the county.  Our county captain was schooled by Mick McCann. Cargin had more legs than those supposedly young fitter faster PG1 players in extra time.

Feels like it's hard to please everyone. We've had an exciting county final that was tight but because Cargin won many on this board are gutted.
Quote from: imtommygunn on October 13, 2024, 07:29:22 PMMcaleese scored one from more or less the same place though - with his right foot.

Cargin still do have the best individuals in the county yes. Those ones aren't available to the county though.

Who like?

Firstly, congratulations to Cargin, great club, you know how to grind em out. Good luck in Ulster, all Antrim will be behind you.

Casements didn't fear Cargin before the game and round the club we feel like it's one we lost, rather than Cargin won.

The video is going around that shows we had a good goal disallowed, and we thought when Dermot was black carded, Mick got away with an exact same foul a few minutes later. Those things hit hard when refereeing gets it wrong or is perceived to not be consistent.

And we thought  Enda Lynn should have got a free in to level it in extra time.

Those who wish to comment please do so, just take the time to review the evidence beforehand.

Portglenone will suck it up, and will come back for more. Now that we know we can go toe to toe with Cargin for an hour, our challenge is to go find that extra couple of per cent.

Good luck Cargin, but don't go looking down your noses at us no more! We arnt far away...and best of all... youse know it!

Fair dues Bannside your men done  themselves proud today and took it to us but you are absolutely taking the piss claiming hard done by decision wise. 7-5 down in normal time, two scandalous decisions awarding frees. The commentators on the stream were in disbelief. Cargin on one of their worst days still came through against Portglenone who are away home thinking they played well
That's the reality.

More typical condescending EOC. You were in a battle today and you know it. Goal disallowed that video evidence going round shows it was a scandalous decision.

You know we are bang up there with you, stop talking shite.

I talked to a lot of good Cargin men after the game who were gracious enough to say we gave a very good team their fill of it. That's all.

To be fair, Kobo was class. POTM.

Agree with that all, as a neutral, apart from the Lynn "free" at the end.

He was looking for it.

But ports were the better team (just lacking a quality forward) and I said from the moment the ball hit the net, that was a legitimate goal..... But typically Cargin were able to use their experience and influence to make the call for the officials.

Especially on the black card.... Karol has a lot to answer for on that one.

Good game! ref kept you in it if you care to admit it but at the end of the day the mcnamee resides in the cargin clubhouse to 2025 ,your chairman could have been gracious enough to shake cargin men's hands but refused but hey ho that the way he wanted to roll with it ,your very welcome into cargin for tomorrow the best day of the year "champions Monday" #Eoc #champions 🇳🇬

Be a long winter for pg1 with that match in the rear view mirror, defensive work was spot on but have to take the chances when they come. They can be sore over the goal and one or two cards not given, thems the breaks. In a tight game experience told rather than any difference in quality, undoubtedly for Cargin it was a match they felt they would find a way.

RD spoke true in IN on being glad for a gap to next game to reset, they'll need a few more gears for Ulster however that's the champions prerogative and congratulations to them, Champions have the knack of not losing and they had the ability to take their chances.

While only a slabbering, in a clean game,  not great to see Cargin non playing panel members trying to get involved in pushing and shoving, while minor stuff that type of crap should be dealt with heavily by officials.

Good to see a competitive final, not great that it was only so as both teams dropped the ball and got turned over time and again.

Ah now a lot of true stuff posted here but the ref didn't keep anyone in it. PG! ones round me thought he shafted them whole game and now you think he kept them in it. Maybe a sign he did a good job  ;D

Cargin FB line winning of it for me. As said KOBO excellent. The other two in there were decent too.

Spike

BS you're undermining your own arguments claiming a goal when play was stopped and the referee was somehow against you - those 2 highly questionable frees given for you in added time should have had you loving that man.

Everyone is sore after a championship loss, completely understandable but the referee was not PG1s problem, their forwards were

Massive defensive effort from Portglenone, which took serious intensity, Parke letting the 4 man swarm tackle go assisted greatly in this. But the massive defensive effort also meant going forward they offered little threat. 35mins they went without scoring at one point and also could only muster 1 score in the 22-25 mins or so of extra time. To win championships you need to get the ball over the bar and Portglenone couldn't  do it at the key moments. They deserve great credit and defeats hurt, we know this as a club more than anyone, no looking down our noses at any club from us. Ulster now looks to be a tough gig with so many injuries but 4weeks is a long time to prep for it.

Portglenones decision making i feel cost them the game. Rushed shots at times under serious pressure. McCanns was a certain black card and im not sure about Dermots, didnt see it?? Warranted?

But as Bannside says this shows PG1 they can do it, just need to learn from this

Hats off to Cargin on Saturday, first time there since the new Clubrooms finished, facilities first class, stewarding 10/10. Best venue in the county to take a match in

As for the game, total mismatch. Unsure how St Ts got to that final on that display today. Ballymena should be able to go deep in ulster with the squad they have

NAG1

Wonder will Kevin have the couple of supporters clearly abusing him on the pitch after the final whistle in his match report. Stewards very slow on to the pitch to escort him off.

Doubt PG1 will have a better chance to win one than they had yesterday. Exciting enough game, more due to the errors in the game not the EOC will care today.

I couldn't believe they didnt swap the taker during the game. Thought Lynn or Hagan would of been an obvious replacement after their usual leftie missed a couple
