Quote from: bannside on July 20, 2024, 10:26:22 AMCargin still firm favourites for McNamee with one eye already on Ulster. But St Brigids should definitely be in the conversation, anyone not seeing that isn't looking the right way!
Cargin will never have any eye on ulster until they get into it, too experienced for that BS as you well know :)

Complete farce settling leagues with playoffs at this time of year.

Last nights result will have zero bearing on championship and probably needs an '*' beside it.

Someone remind me again the reason for having a league playoff?

Sportacus

It's good to see a strong St Brigid's team emerging.  The more teams we have at the top table the better. Congratulations on a first Division One title.

Hectic

There were about 7 teams at the top of the league separated by about half a dozen points.

The team that won the playoffs did so by beating a decimated All Saints who were knocking on doors to get a team and Cargin who were equally decimated.

That is not mocking of sniffing, it's fact and puts a question against the wisdom of staging the playoffs over the couple of weeks when everyone knows this place clears out, and in a fair few cases when work leave is set.

Hectic

At least Creggan had the sense to throw their last league game to avoid having to partake in the farce 😂🤪

1-Tummetly is nowhere near fit to ref Senior let alone a div 1 final(Cargin finished top so in my eyes the champs)
2-Finnegan goes down trying to waste time late on,clearly see his da screaming abuse over the fence and got involved with cargin stat man
3- Downeys will end up taking over in south belfast(Doting dads)and will end up f**king it up like they did in lavey

Ghost+Tommy

Although it was screened on Facebook, you'd expect J Quinn to know creggan weren't playing, kept mentioning them in his commentary 🙈,and fxxk that dick Mc Erlean who jumped ship from St Paul's is a hard listen, even suggesting who MOM was to D Cassidy( very good on co commentary, talks alot off sense)

For a game that seemingly nobody cared about, there seems to be a lot of abuse off the back of it.

Is it though? a club winning it with organic growth like creggan and portglenone is good for the antrim game.  The St Brigids model of transfers sorting your problems.out is not.

I commented against it at the time and haven't changed my mind at all, but it's spilt milk now.  They are where they are and my point is they are now in the mix with Portglenone, Cargin, Creggan, Aghagallon, and hopefully a few other teams who will push on. Makes for a good championship and hopefully helps Andy find a few new faces as well.

The new league structure this year was strange so no surprises the conclusion and semi finals were a mess also.

The league structure was foisted on the County by 3 or 4 clubs, who looked after themselves with a 16 team league.
It was further complicated with Dunloys run to SFC final.

DIV 1 A x 8 teams and Div 1 B x 8 teams would have been more productive.

The play offs were to account for the spilt season & even out opportunities for clubs with players on county panel.

The dates of play off were published in February. It is what it is !

So name the "transfers" in the St Brigids starting 15 and bench who beat Cargin (and then do the same for Cargin)? Jesus Cargin supporters on here hate losing (which is fully understandable), but stop making all sorts of excuses about transfers, league structure, the referee, the opposing supporters etc etc etc. Imagine any team having the temerity to actually beat Cargin in a final. FFS wise up.

I commented on the game but most of the comments aren't from Cargin supporters, a little unfair there Pjoe

Nope. Losing isn't the issue. They're the same when they win, the same when they draw. One big whinge.
