Another tourist beaten to an inch of his life in Dublin.

Edit: not really a wtf at this stage unless, wtf are the garda/authorities etc playing at!

Ffs. Hate reading stuff like that, hope the fella makes a full recovery.

That's really shit.  I always tell tourists going to Dublin to stay southside (and I'm a northsider).  Nearly every turn off O'Connell St. (other than the Henry St. shopping area) brings you to a dodgy neighbourhood.  If you don't know the area, and are just exploring, you can be in trouble pretty quickly

Used to really enjoy Dublin for a weekend but last few times been put off it altogether people shooting up in broad daylight and generally looking over your shoulder.

I think people are wising up to Dublin and Belfast now. Overpriced for what's on offer and I can see it starting to suffer. Heading to Dublin for a night or two a year used to be the usual. Now we try and do everything to stay out of the city. It's a pity. It was a really nice city at one point. One of my favourites to go to.

Not that I don't think that Dublin isnt a shit hole at the minute, but it seems to be a pattern for large cities every where. Very few of the major cities don't have these types of issues.

Sad to see for sure and I would imagine very hard to reverse.

Remember it being very bad in the early 90's, was cleaned up and now its as bad, just a case of staying on top of it, turning a blind eye in most cities seems to be the easy way of it.
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

That's the world we live in as far as attitude to women and girls go. Sex crimes and beatings are miminised and receive leniant sentences. Also victim blaming. Mike Tyson is a convicted rapist but that has been somehow erased from the narrative and he's eulogised as a legend.

Seen that earlier, the law really is an ass.

If memory serves me correct at the funeral of one of these individuals a screw driver was included in the offertory procession.

Even I've bought into the 'Tyson didn't do it' narrative that was spouted when I was growing up by Tyson fans.

This is mad though given the current culture we live in:

That's mad. How did he only get four years and how could you bring yourself to play in that team.
