Anyone else think bobby has had a bad start to season. Missing for most of the game

Yeah he's had a bad start to the season. Was very poor last night.

I thought he was fine against Arsenal and Chelsea.

The entire team was utter shit yesterday apart from Salah.

Personally, I think some people place a little too much emphasis on the fact that he only got a couple of goals at Anfield last season and label his performance as subpar based on that.

Bronco

Agreed. Worth remembering he was up against a team masterminded by tactical genius Dean Smith too.

'Fans' need scapegoats and were happy enough to put up with Bobby's scoring record as long as we were winning. Although Firmino's form hasn't been wonderful, he is still vital to our team.

Still trying to fathom how one of our best teams ever, gets one of our worst defeats ever :o

As they say in GAA, 'hammer the hammer' , fair play to Villa management- they identified a weakness in that Liverpools pressing and counter attacks left the centre backs exposed on either wing. Gomez was all over the show, trying to play off side on the halfway line ...jesus wept !

Playing offside on the half way line is a moot point as they do that every game. It's the 'all
Over the show' which was the main problem!!!

When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

Surely this is becoming a major concern for Liverpool given how many asthmatics they apparently have in the squad? I

I'd have thought all the asthmatics would have been told to self isolate for their own safety given they would be in a higher risk category than non-asthmatics?

Can anyone think of a logical reason why this is not the case?...

That's three in a week now for Liverpool. There's likely to be more.

We're going to see some odd scorelines and results this year. It's a very different environment to be playing in. No fans in the stadium, a few of your teammates getting Covid, etc.  Man city get trounced by Leicester at home who then in turn get well bate by Newcastle the following week.  Even in Liverpool's best days and eras they've rarely put 7 past any team nor rarely ever conceded so many goals even at their lowest ebb, yet Villa can do this to possibly the best Liverpool side of all time.  No issues with the Villa result, they were magnificent.  But it's strange times we're in and it's hard to know what to make of some of the results the tail end of last season and the start of this season. Everton are top of the league ffs  :-*
That's just, like your opinion man.

Sometimes you get shot results. Sometimes your off your game. Sometimes teams play their World Cup final performance against you. The weekend was the worst result you could imagine but it's still only 3 points. We are still favourites to win the league. We are still the best team in the league. Too many bed wetters in the world!

Bronco

I'd still expect Liverpool to stroll to the title given the complete lack of credible competitors, but it's become clear over the last 6 to 9 months that this Liverpool side are not the all time greats some were giddily declaring when they won the title.

The truth is they are the beneficiaries of a significant drop in quality in the Premier League.

This is it. As bad a result as it was, it's still only one game. The squad is still one of the best around and there's competition to most positions (Reserve GK aside).

Think VVD needed a bit of a wake up call and hoping this is it. Workrate is a huge part of the way Liverpool play, and I think the team needed a reminder of that.

you must be about late 20's or not much more to think that...

This squad has a bit to go to emulate Dalglish and the team of that era.

IMO Van Dyke is a beast of a player and when he's not on song the rest of the defence get exposed a bit. Gomez is decent, nothing more. Robertson and TTA are superb attacking options and now will maybe need to defend a bit more as more teams target the space they leave behind them.
Klopp can't get Sane and the much maligned Henderson back soon enough to up the workrate.

It's still Liverpools to lose so one trimming like that won't overly concern Klopp.
