There was only ever going to be one outcome here as a guy like this would know where the bodies are buried so to speak and if he went down he would make he would take plenty with him.

That doesn't stack. This decision was made by a jury of 9 men and 3 women, ordinary joe public, the verdict ready out by a 'young foreman' per the Bel Tel, who I would hazard a guess was possibly a teenager or young adult when all this was happening.

Will be interesting to see if the PPS decide to continue with the second charge involving Ian Coulter or whether they just let this slide in light of this verdict. I'd suspect they'll double down.

Something not right about this, happy for anyone from a Financial / Legal background out there to tell me the events and associated timings are not connected in anyway whatsoever and are purely coincidental.

My son and then my daughter worked there for a few years, I'd say the books were constantly being cooked as she never got a payslip in her first year or so, had plenty of cash payments and was never (from what I could see) properly taxed

This was standard, chasing pay, not paying correct rate and so on, from my understanding of the place it was mismanaged from the top (owner) to those that ran the bar, it provided though my daughter a job through Uni so it did what it did. Those that were there at the end will miss out on redundancy and final weeks/months salary

The company that operated bar rented the building so landlord may have turfed them out and demolished the building for redevelopment. If they weren't paying wages on time you can bet they weren't paying rent. If you look at the individual who owned the bar business, this wouldn't be his first such scenario and no doubt he'll be absolutely fine as the staff and any creditors likely lose out.

An aggrieved Louth put these figures out when Harte left them high and dry and went to Derry... previous Louth manager put very startled emogi in response...

apart from the inflated expenses example per Louth, you might also see them engaged as a consultant by the main sponsor (providing some obscure consultancy services) - paid directly by sponsor or even employed by the county board in some capacity. I think at the levels these boys are getting paid now, I reckon they're taxed one way of the other. I can't see anyone getting 80k petrol money and it going unchallenged by Revenue or HMRC.

Would love to know how much these men get paid for the coverage, half of them don't know if its pumped or stuffed.

Like a breath of fresh air when you're listening to the likes of Damian O'Hagan, Clithro or Lorcan Martin who actually know half the boys on the field of play or can actually read a game.

Don't like to criticise as they provide a great service generally and access to many more games that you wouldn't otherwise get to, but it is a bit annoying when the main commentator doesn't know many of the names and obviously isn't up to date with club football. I suppose when you're paying the amount you pay for the stream (ahem) then you should expect a certain level of service or knowledge from those doing the talking.

I suspect the county board are happy to keep Dooher and co. They arent getting paid for it and tyrones county board seem to be miserable gits when it comes to money. Was only a few years ago they tried getting the tyrone players to pay for equipment.

Not sure that stands up to scrutiny. Outside of Dublin and Kerry, have delivered the most All Ireland senior titles in the last 30 years. Very good underage record too. How many outside managers have won Sam Maguires? Two maybe...

I could be wrong. But I remember a few players complaining 5-6 years ago about the county board and their unwillingness to pay fuel expenses on time and trying to get players to buy their own foam rollers wtc. Why else would they keep on dooher given that 2022,2023 and 2024 have been horror shows from a tyrone point of view.

Think hoping for Peter Donnelly to get back involved is wishful thinking. He's working for IRFU involved in the Ireland 7s team, was at olympics last week and wherever else in the world the 7s play. I would agree that fitness/S&C appears to have deteriorated since he left the set up.

I don't think he's interested in playing county football which is fair enough, it's all consuming. He's an automatic starter if he wanted to be there. Electric to watch.

I don't know about Dungannon. You've sort of been waiting on them to kick on from winning it in 2020 but just haven't really. I would have them well behind Errigal/Trillick.

Clarkes won in 2020. Beat by Dromore AET first round in 2021, Dromore go on to win. Beat by Errigal (quarter final?) in 2022, Errigal go on to win. Beat by Trillick last year in semi-final, Trillick go on to win.

I'd have them up there with Dromore ahead of the chasing pack but a bit behind Trillick and Errigal who have stacked squads. Need subs making an impact to win a senior championship.

Donaghmore and Loughmacrorys time will come.

Diverging slightly but I know there are very few 'natives' on the Magherafelt senior side in terms of players whose family have been involved down the years. Most are first generation where parents have moved to the town and wee Johnny has now progressed to senior level. Cookstown will likely see the same thing in a few years.

There's no lists of who has or hasn't voted. The Electoral Register is a public document that can be viewed at the ER headquarters and lists who is registered to vote at each address. So you can easily check someone's address to see if they are registered. Not registered then clearly didn't vote.

Football as a spectacle is in real trouble, one time during yesterdays match there were 30 players all within Trillicks 65. Errigal played the ball sideways and back more than they played forwards. I suppose what do you do when the other team parks the bus as it wasn't really a day for the long range efforts.

Trillick learned the lessons Ardboe were given and killed the space, leaving nowhere for Errigal to attack into.

They did the same against Dungannon. Not pretty to watch but they do it well so fair play to them.

Did Meenagh not temporarily step away from this teaching post after RG's exit, which would have been last few months of the school term? Perhaps he wasn't able to extend that arrangement. County management a full time gig these days.

I would imagine he will join the £100k a year bracket that would currently include Harte, McGeeney, Tally.
Over £50k would be McEntee Antrim and McEntee Sligo, McConville, Devlin at Louth etc.......
Though clubs are paying massive amounts now too.
Between county and club, football and hurling I would imagine the brown bag economy is around the 200 million a year mark.......that's probably more money than swirling around all of the professional sports in Ireland put together!

The 2 boys have fairly successful careers outside the GAA I wouldn't imagine they are getting that kind of money for taking Tyrone.

Is Tally getting £100k to go to Kerry as defensive coach? I wouldn't have thought so. I'd have thought more the £50k bracket for that one.

Think these numbers are exagerated. These things are all rumours and speculation to those outside the inner circles of county boards but had heard from well connected people in Armagh that McGeeney was £50K+ which is a decent salary all right but when you consider the hours involved and try and compare it to the corporate world, he'd be on far more if he was managing a team of individuals of that size and operating at the top end of a particular sector. I'm sure Harte and Devlin at Louth are on a healthy amount too, given they are full time at management/coaching gig as far as i know, i appreciate Mickey would be beyond retirement age anyway at this stage.

Of course, the questions goes back to whether they should be getting paid at all, but i don't see how anyone would take on that responsibility for nothing. The exception probably being Dooher and Logan but they are different in that they have obvious successful careers outside the GAA and i doubt very much if either takes anything beyond their fuel expenses. Different for the likes of 'career' managers like McGeeney. Does anyone know what he did before he went full time into management?

Still a fair slope on the pitch and it's pretty short compared to most other pitch's, new complex is a great job though

I drove past and thought there was a slope but wondered was there really a slope or is it an illusion with the terrain around it. I didn't get a proper look. But thought they would have flatten it out. Maybe not?

Couldn't see how there'd be a slope, sure the whole thing was dug up and started from scratch. could be wrong though. Anyway, it looks the part from pictures I've seen and will be a great venue for championship matches and hopefully the likes of underage county matches, mckenna cups etc once lights are in and it's all finished
