Irish aid ship bound for Gaza

Updated: 17:55, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 RTE

An Irish and a Canadian aid ship are currently in international waters on their way to Gaza to take part in a humanitarian mission.
In July, the Irish ship, the MV Saoirse, was at the centre of allegations it had been sabotaged by Israel.
A chunk was found to be missing from the ship's propeller shaft which activists claimed could not have been done accidentally.
Socialist MEP Paul Murphy, former Fianna Fáil TD Chris Andrews and two councillors from Sinn Fein are on board.
Israel will not permit the flotilla of pro-Palestinian activists who set sail from Turkey to reach their destination, a government official has told Reuters.
"They will not be allowed to breach the blockade," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
"The blockade is on, and no exceptions will be made," he said, adding that Israel "will take whatever measures will be necessary."

Will this be anything like their threats of "pre-emptive" strikes against Iran?

Did Turkey not state recently that they would escort ships to Gaza in the future?

Whatever deal is finally agreed with Greece will be applied to Ireland.

The Irish budget deficit is still €20 bn

Basically the Irish  government and people brought Ireland  to the position that it is in - corrupt officials, employees, tax dodging and not paying its way on a grand scale. They would prefer to bury their heads in the sand and continue to run at a deficit as long as it doesn't affect them personally.

Seafoid, I think that the Irish cannot be compared to the Greeks, as we have had to swallow manys a bitter pill in the recent past, and belts have had to be tightened across the country (granted the wankers sorry bankers seem to be immune from penalties/suffering).
Ireland is at least trying to get itself of its knees, the Greeks seem to want their cake and eat it with lashings of cream.

If there was a border poll and passed in the North and South. Would the Unionists kick up a bit of a fuss or would they accept the democratic will of the Irish people.
Or would they pack up and go home to the motherland like Evil Genius?

Quite a few have and are.
In fact unionist politican recently giving out because more Taigs are going to UU and QUB then Protestants, wants the Uni's to address the situation!!  ::) What are they going to do? Stop them going to colleges on the "mainland" anbd force them into local Uni!

Mulgrew are not 100%.

As an Aberdeen man, may I respectfully point out that an unfit Mulgrew is normally an advantage as it stops the f*cker from being close enough to the pitch to try defending?

:D
Believe it or not, he's not been playing to bad recently.

Dear oh dear, you really don't get even the simplest of concepts, do you?

Let me remind you once more of the Good Friday Agreement, which inter alia addresses this very issue, thus:

"[This Agreement recognises] the birthright of all the people of Northern Ireland to identify themselves and be accepted as Irish or British, or both, as they may so choose"
http://www.nio.gov.uk/agreement.pdf

This is the same GFA which was negotiated so enthusiastically by your beloved Shinners, by the way.   :D

P.S. I'm also European.  ;)

Tongue in cheek, you really need to lighten up sometimes, get out, have a beer, blow some of them cobwebs out of your trousers!  ;) :P :-*

Actually I can't - I could have at the start by letting it run for a number of days so I only would have been able to release the results at 9 am tomorrow or whatever 24 hours after I set it up.

I wonder if some non voters have voted in the poll??

Well you were asked to include another option - True Irishmen disenfranchised by the West Brit, Blueshirt, Partitionist, Gombeen, Anglophile, Free State, Take it down from the mast, Royality loving, Nordie hating Governments and people of the makey uppy bankrupt and morally corrupt republic!
Or something like that.

You really are a Tosspot Gee-bag.

Hook line and sinker, you eejit  :D :D :D :D :D

Should I have added a smiley for you to comprehend?  :D

You don't have to post things like that for me to hold that opinion, you just gave me an opportunity to let me express those feelings.

We all know that is the real face of Sinn Féin.

Ahh diddums you'll hurt my feelings.  :P

With Greece getting 50% of their debts written off, how does this leave Ireland - do we just have to "suck it up?"

Wouldn't pay any heed to myles, he knows F all squared about Celtic.

Lennys still inexperienced, but is learning, what people seem to forget is that we are suffering from a massive number of injuries (alot of them 1st team regulars!) Brown, Izzy, Commons, Samaras, Kelvin Wilson, Bungura, Loovens, even Mark Wilson and Mulgrew are not 100%. Things have to change (and drastically) and last nights result maybe the kick start the team need, was good that Hooper scored, as it won't do his confidence any harm.
Now if we could get the same result against Hibs on Saturday - Hoopy days.  ;)
