GAA Discussion / Re: Armagh v Cavan Sun 8th June
June 09, 2014, 01:49:40 PM
armagh done everything right, lining up on their normal side for their own home games, nothing new there, that's our standard practice.

the second them few cavan boys made a go for The Rock they may as well a signed their own death warrants, they picked the wrong man and the wrong team. was great to see every man bust their hole to go in and back up their main man, that told me a lot before a ball was even thrown in.

as for any repercussions, good luck trying to single out anyone especially from armagh, unless they think ciaran mckeever is just going to stand and take a hiding as he stands behind the band in his usual spot.

keep it lit Armagh and well done big Paul, Geezer and all the team

You and MR can f**k up  :)

I've a vested interest, at 16/1 for my fiver :P, they have the best possible chance to win since 1990 and may not get another chance, as the likes of City and Chelsea will be buying again after the World Cup

MR2 they will certainly get another chance and plenty of them if the current rate of improvement continues. In such a short space of time to be in the thick of it with Chelsea and Man City as we are, is quite astonishing and with  one or two further shrewd purchases and further backing we'll be getting better before we get worse, the likes of chelsea and city will plateau out eventually, a great club like our own can and will come to the top again

GAA Discussion / Re: Railway Cup 2014
February 24, 2014, 11:40:52 AM
You can debate all you want about what time of the year its played or prior to such an event and whatever but its' not going to improve the attendances and interest if it continues.
Maybe its time to call an end to it and put everyone out of their misery trying to muster up an interest in it.

In this day and age surely a new competition can be thought up for the cream of our county's footballers and hurlers.

I'm going to be shot down here.
ok, we have huge debate on currently regarding player reward, professionalism in our games and all that. none of us want to see any form of payment being introduced in any of our games and national competitions.
BUT, maybe, just maybe we could introduce one competition where pay for player could be allowed, reward of some kind in a competition for our countrys finest footballers and hurlers for their efforts. A new competition could be introduced with loads of glitz and sold properly and based maybe on the format of the Railway Cup.

some kind of drastic change is needed but is this maybe a step too far ?!?!

online currency converter http://www.fairfx.com/ is the crowd i used 2 years ago for my own wedding, posted to the door and worked out a lot cheaper than banks, bureau de change.

do a comparison online for currency conversions

the only thing about going online was, it'll be a full id check and all that but its well worth the hassle

Iv had one for about a year, the lad it will soon cut off and he will need to come around and re set it every year for £80.  Does this sound right? Can I re-set it myself?

very easily, this is where these cowboys like to make their big profits. you can easily get yourself a 12 month subscription for half that and code it in to box yourself (a quick google on How-to will get you up and running). its knowing where to look. when i say coding it in, its basically typing one line in to a cccam or mgcamd.

you see whatever box it is you have, go in to linuxsat-support and find jobaids for your box type and have a play around the menu's. as for the sub cs-kings.biz can help and also provide further useful  information. it all depends how much you want to try and learn to do

I don't think i'll bother. Too many hazards. Not worth the hassle.

it is very much worth the hassle i'd say for those who do have it and are saving 100's each year, must look into it myself

I know what your saying, but TV is important, you want quality these days. There is the aggravation with recording programmes.
Plus with my luck id invest in the system and after a few months the encryption will change.
Even if the encryption didn't change the quality of the service described by Fr Jack is very concerning

Plus its only a matter of time before cases like this start to happen in the UK > http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25347913

it might all depend on the quality of the receiver box as much as anything, a box at 50/60 quid is extremely cheap and sometimes poor quality and sometimes cloned. it might be worth it to spend the bit extra and that can help a lot to reduce freezing on cheap boxes, so they tell me

How would you go about recording something? Say for the likes of the FTA channels, would you need a seprate freeview box to record something?

Sorry for the ignorance if this is stupit question. Id never heard of Dreambox until this thread.

for recording you can only record directly (for any channel) something as you watch it, and more than likely onto an external drive.

for recording and being able to watch another channel concurrently you might set up something similar to series link and in this case you require a twin receiver box, which can be anything from 150/200 up for the box alone

Quote from: Eamonnca1 on October 28, 2013, 11:03:02 PM.  I had cable for a while in England and wasted god knows how many hours in front of that thing, I felt obliged to watch it and get my money's worth.  It's a bit annoying that I have a hard time watching live sports though.  I miss being able to watch an F1 Grand Prix, for example, and not even my VPN seems able to help me out there.

I'll watch The Daily Show, a bit of Colbert, and Real Time with Bill Maher. All of that you can get directly through the web (the latter by illicit means).

Couldn't possibly comment but if you have flash, a good pop up and ad blockers on your browser apparently coolsport.tv allows you to get virtually anything including all sky sports and all theF1 including qualifying (allegedly) but for the record I have never checked....

Alternatively also on nbc sports channel after the soccer tape delayed on Sunday morning...

I couldn't possibly comment either but have heard from a reliable source who uses it regularly that it's very good and will even show PPV events. This source acknowledges that whilst the stream isn't in HD, it's generally decent enough that you could connect a laptop up to a TV and watch it on a bigger screen.

gallsman, just on that one, i can connect my laptop up to tv for largescreen viewing pleasure, but my sound not so pleasurable coming just from laptop. i connect a VGA cable from laptop to tv, do i need something else for sound also to come from tv ?

also i'm now with those who like to watch a show from start to finish and i think now long gone are the days of waiting around for a week on next episode...currently worked my way thru 4 series of breaking bad in the past 3 weeks via XBMCHUB. this can be on laptop, mobile phone or tv digital receiver box plugin

I've an old type car stereo, no cd player ,just a cassette deck and radio, FM MW etc

i've nokia lumia phone with my music on

now i've trying to research and is there some way i can play the music on my mobile phone thru an fm transmitter.

how does this work ?
it doesnt have to connect into the radio itself i beleive, but the fm transmitter is powered thru the cigarette lighter and un unused fm station is found on the stereo, you then match the same station on phone radio and from that you are then able to go into the phone music library and play my collection of stuff ?

can anyone confirm ?
