They take up at least a month of the calendar - a calendar that would need about 14 months in it!!!!!!

So you'd expect county teams to start the national league cold, with no warm-up games? If you don't have the McKenna/O'Byrne  etc Cups, we'll have teams traipsing the country looking for challenge matches. Which amounts to pretty much the same thing.

Yeah, but provincial club championships happen too. The earlier the county championships are over, the sooner the provincial club championships could be on. You could aim to have your provincials over in October if the County Championships were done in September.

Sorry, and this might be heresy, but I'd scrap the provincial club championships before I'd be prepared to shoehorn club championships into being almost finished by 1 September.

There's no logic in leaving 90% of club players idle in September and October to suit the 5% who end up winning county medals.

Players like playing in good weather and long evenings. Why must club players just accept they'll be playing in muck and shite in November and December?

In the ideal world ( where ever the fk we might find that) the Inter County Championship would reach Qtr Final stage as it dies niw by 1st August while Club Championships would reach Semi Final stage by 1st September.

Is there any need to rush club championships to have them almost over by 1 September? I don't think there is.

The next nine weeks should be dedicated to club leauge games, up to and including the weekend of 15th May. Have your league finished by that weekend or end up playing it in the winter.

The problem with this is that you'll have county panels bursting themselves at training several times a week with no match for 9 weeks. Managers will fill the void with meaningless challenge matches which will in turn disrupt club fixtures.

Also a 4 or 5 game league is way too short. I'd actually have a longer league and play it every second weekend from the start of February to the end of May with every other weekend dedicated to club games.

By the end of May, every club team would have played 8 or 9 league games.

Abandon the concept of league finals and start the championship with a rash of games on the June weekend, with the provincials finishing by mid-July.

Plenty of time from there on to play qualifiers, club championships and All Ireland series.

Cavan will probably end up with someone like Dermot McCabe.

Not a chance of that happening as Dermot is employed by the county board as a coaching manager. Either of his brothers Martin or Declan could be in the frame though.

Not at All Ireland semi-final stage. They were widely tipped to beat a weak Kerry team in that semi-final, for starters.

For this year's championship to be even a moderate success we needed to push Tyrone all the way - forget the freak draw where we were outplayed for long stretches - in all games against them this year it has been men against boys. Zero progress. Hyland has had a long time to grow the team to that level or get close to it but clearly can't do it now.

Utterly unrealistic to expect Cavan, or any other team of their ilk, to morph into a top-4 team overnight.

Tommy Carr has no clue what the role and purpose of the black card is. He proves this time and time again and yet on tv and radio he is brought in by RTE to be a pundit on the game.

Today he said the black card serves no purpose for the ga,e. Truth is Tommy Carr serves no purpose for game. Sorry Tommy you are probably a very nice man and all that but you a fecking awful pundit

Tommy's point is surely that the black card does nothing to eliminate or curb the most cynical of fouls, typically one intended to prevent a certain score or to block an opposing team's progress in the dying minutes of a tight game.

Can HQ clarify if the first match is actually null and void,  if the next game is a replay, a rematch or just the match ! Surely it has to be null and void, so individual championship appearances, individual scoring etc don't count ??

The suspended player should in no shape or form be able to play in this game (no harm to him)

It's not null and void once the CCCC accepts the referee's report, which it has done.

The suspended player has served his suspension. End of.

Experience of challenges to previous GAA rulings should show you a good legal mind would probably walk all over this decision if laois wanted to go down that route. As a laois person I wouldn't like them fighting this in committee rooms. We've already won this once on the pitch (and no matter what people hide behind the truth is laois were by far the better team) and it would be preferable to do it's that way again

Read the rulebook. It's very clear. It's also the reason the CCCC couldn't ignore the Laois error, as otherwise Armagh would have had a slam dunk opportunity to object.

Of course Laois accepted it as they know full well that a hearing on foot of an Armagh objection could have decided (perfectly validly) to kick them out of the Championship.

Can't see it being replayed ...Fine for Laois...slap on the wrist for the Officals ...Who were a disaster all day regarding subs...Laois  claimed one the earlier subs was a blood sub and asked could they replace the Black card which happened in the 71st minute and forth offical said it was okay.....

Ridiculous decision. Fine if it's at club level where a referee is on his own but at inter-county level, this is all the officials fault.

I thought so too til I read this in the RTE report:

Shane Murphy replaced the black-carded Brendan Quigley in injury-time before Mick Lillis' men scored their final point.

If Laois scored the winner while having an illegal sub on the field, its arguable that they directly profited from their error.  Only option so is to replay the game.
