General discussion / Drinking

You know what really annoys me is the assholes who when the ask if they drink they reply "sure i'm irish"

or people on social networking sites who go on about being happiest when full/drinking/wrote off etc etc etc

i enjoy a drink but think it such a sad reflection of our society when everyone feels the need to talk about drinking as something to be aspire to do or be. there should be so much more to life but alot of our youth now think their lifes should be defined by how much they drink how often they go out how big of mess they get into etc etc

fcuk it annoys me

am i over reacting or does anyone agree with me???

good to get it off my chest

lads maybe i am wrong and biased but did Fergal Doherty micheal ennis and gramham canty do more is thhe championship this year and Dan Gordon and Aidan Carr??????

i could be wrong about Carr but def think i have a point about Gordon.

Carr kicked 24 points i think that in itself is worth something?

GAA Discussion / Re: Most naturally talented
September 18, 2008, 02:16:17 PM
When I think "naturally talented" I always think forwards for some reason.

Some of my favorites would be (in no particular order except for Maurice Fitz who is no 1...

Maurice Fitz
Gooch
Frankie Dolan (when on form)
Stevie McDonald
Canavan
Ciaran McDonald

On the debate on Cavan. Aidan Connolly was a tremendous footballer but as Lynchboy said, he destroyed himself with drink and with that his reputation too. Larry a naturally gifted footballer, I don't know. An exciting footballer yes, naturally gifted to a point I suppose. Pierson can be exceptional but hasn't done it enough to warrant being on that list. Cavans most naturally gifted footballers of the last 20 yrs is Dermot McCabe.(Stephen King & Damian Reilly would be top if it was 25 yrs

is this Frankie Dolan from Roscommon?(apologises if this is obvious!!!!)

i know but not through football is he that good?

Ireland can mix it with the best at boxing and almost always win olympic medals

why can this formula for success not be used for other olympic sports

surely if money was invested and training methods changed we would be able to change in track and field events?

Boxing is on the up because of successes like these, if we challenged for medals in other areas it would no doubt increase the profile  of these sports aswell????

Down / Re: Down Club Hurling & Football

been following the own championship over the last few days and i still cant understand why Kilcoo have no county representation on county panel

they seem to have at least a few good panel players 2 ff's and a fb places where down could do with a fresh face from the bench judging by their last performance

yet there were 6 Shamrocks players at one stage and they are mid table division 2 playing intermediate championship

kilcoo are in Div 1 for 10 years now beaten by narrow margins in the last two years championship and last nite beat the current league championships ( with 3 county starting players by 20 odd points)? ??? ???
