The next few weeks would be ideal to play the reserve championship. I know they have to be played after the 1st round of the senior championship, but it would be a great time. In order to ensure that no teams fielded dodgy teams full of senior players, all players that played the 1st round of the senior championship last year could be excluded from playing.

Now that Tyrone are in the Ulster Final, do we know when the club league games will start again and which fixtures?

Carrickmore by 4/5 V Strabane

Trillick by 1/2 V Killyclogher
Edendork V Errigal by 15-20
Ardboe V Clonoe by 4/5
Augher V Coalisland by 6/7
Kildress V Eglish draw
Galbally by 3/4 V Greencastle

Some result by edendork! Biggest upset of the season so far.

Strabane v Omagh league clash  tonight in Strabane , scoreboard had a draw, spectators and press had a 1 point win for Omagh , ref   lisited the game as a draw , calculators needed at all games.

It must have been Jerome McElroy refereeing! Has a habit of miscalculating.

Augher must have put up a grt performance up in carmen this evenin to get the win

It was a crackin game .. Thoroughly enjoyable ..
I hear Aidan Cassidy put on an exhibition around the middle once he came out from full forward?

Probably the biggest upset of the year to date. Some result, especially as it was at Carrickmore. Have Augher got a few players back, or what is the reason for their upturn in results? Maybe it is a sign of Carrickmore struggling.

Looks like Sunday is going to be a sell out. Almost 80k tickets sold. Should be a great buzz in the stadium, once the Dubs come in after Super Sunday.

I think its very short sighted to say Fox was to blame. The short kickout strategy was obviously the tactic the management wanted to use. If he had kicked it long, they may not have won any kickouts as the Monaghan team looked physically stronger than Tyrone. Fox has been key to many victories in the past with his kickouts and in any case, the short kickout only works, if the outfield players show for the ball and create space.

I would have to question the decision making of some of the forwards, shooting from impossible angles and distances. Being greedy and not taking the right option for the team. The big players didn't perform with the exception of Lee Brennan. Fair play to Dinky! Not easy to come up against your own county, but he made sure that Frank Burns had a limited impact on the game.

Dromore  v Kildress  DROMORE BY 5/6
Augher  v Clonoe  CLONOE BY 12
Ardboe  v Coalisland  COALISLAND BY 3
Trillick  v Galbally  TRILLICK BY 4
Strabane  v Edendork  DRAW
Eglish v Omagh  OMAGH BY 3/4

Is Killyclogher V Carrickmore not being played? Any reason for this?

Killyclogher are playing Greencastle on Saturday and Carrickmore are playing Errigal on Sunday evening.

Killyclogher/errigal and clonoe/omagh are the 2 stand out fixtures in senior. Coalisland with straightforward passage to semi. Probably dromore as well.

I think its madness that the reserve championship and league will be held back until the first round of the senior championship is played. I understand that it normally cant be played until the 1st round of senior championship has been played, but it will be very difficult to keep the average reserve player interested until October. Why not implement a rule where each club names 12 players who cannot play reserve championship. The key point is that each of these 12 players must have started a senior championship game for their club the previous season. This would by-pass the usual naming of 12 players, some of which have retired or have emigrated.

The reserve championship could be played over 4 consecutive weeks in August, when their is supposed to be very little football played.

Yeah, that is probably a logical enough solution.
Playing the reserve championship in november/december is a complete non runner.

I actually think the county board should go further and run the reserve league independently of the senior leagues. I believe an east/west split of the leagues would work well. For example, a Div 1a and 1b with 8 teams in each, playing home and away on 14 consecutive Friday evenings. All games would effectively be local derbies, with short travel distances. It would create a competitive environment with relegation and promotion. At present most games after Week 5 or 6 are dead rubbers as teams cant win the league and cant get relegated. Where is the enjoyment in that. As we have seen in the past, many teams don't even field towards the end of the season, due to a lack of interest. The result is that a team winning the league could do so, without playing their last few games.
