Anyone see the Tyrone minors yesterday?
Will we be underdogs for the final?

I saw the 2nd half. Conditions were very poor and this led to a really error-ridden and messy game. Tyrone hit a bit of a purple patch and got 3-4 scores on the trot within about 5 minutes. That was game over really. From yesterday you wouldn't fear Tyrone but having seen them in Ballybofey, they will probably be favourites.

Miserable day in the west; I presume it'll be no different in Cavan. I was disappointed that a season ticket didn't even get me under the cover in Breffni today - I'm expecting a soaking.
Safe travels to all.

Jesus wept. Everything that's wrong with RTE's GAA analysis is right there in that article. Clown.

Looks like it'll be a Free State Ulster Final

Only Free State yella backed filth would like to claim that Donegal is in the Free State.
Name all the Donegal players from east Donegal Planter green grass lands.

Jaysis!

Fair play to highorlow for calling it as it is. Fed up of hearing Mayo people dreeshing on about how close they expect it to be and how Connacht is full of hard challenges for them. The reality is that If they played 20 times, Roscommon might win once. Hope the Roscommon lads horse into it and make this the one time in 20 - don't expect they will but I'll be in McHale park just in case they do. Mayo's sights are set on Sam and barring an off-day of epic proportions will win by 8-10.

Still though, having the Connacht final played in Castlebar every year will help a bit with paying off the McHale park costs.

Apparently Lacey had minor knee surgery on Thursday and is doubtful for this game.

I think it's pretty much confirmed that he will not play.

Sooner or later, Donegal will enter the final third of a match a couple of points behind, and they will have to chase the game instead of controlling it. That's when we'll find out just how good they are. I hope it's against Down!

This is another myth about Donegal. That they've never had to chase down a lead. Against Kildare ... against Tyrone ... ?
Now I'll admit that it hasn't happened that often but there's this perception out there that the lads will be turning in confusion to the sideline looking for instructions on what to do if we are behind. They'll keep doing what they always do.
And I'd suggest we've already found out how good Donegal are. Plenty of teams have had to chance to make us chase a lead - not our fault that so far few have been able to do it.

There's certainly an awful lot of shite talked about Donegal and the "system". I genuinely shudder to think of the stuff that will be written when we are beaten. All the same media people who are fuelling the current myths will rip us to shreds. Is it just an Irish thing I wonder? When a team wins, the importance of the win is exaggerated completed, when they lose, the criticism is way over the top.

How hard can it be to go to a split screen for the replay when the action has restarted. You see this in other sports all the time. If their interview with the coach at HT is still running when the game has restarted, they'll put the interview into a smaller box in the corner with the live action shown in a larger box. Surely that is bread and butter for a modern production team?

lads, looking into arranging a stag do in Salou next March. Few questions:
1) Which airport to fly into Barcelona or Reus?
2) A quick search now doesn't return any results flying into Reus, how far in advance do airlines release their flights?
3) Recommendations for a hotel to suit 10-15 lads
4) Things to do?

cheers

Reus is closer but Barcelona is only an hour away.
Port Adventura is a large theme park that is supposed to be pretty good. There's also a large water park in the area. Between those, drinking the arse out of it and trying to get a tan through the clouds, I'd say you will be kept occupied.
Things will be quiet enough there in March though.

Would agree with McCartans assessment, I think they have little or no chance against Donegal. It will be a totally different game against Donegal and I would be surprised if Down get within 4/5 points of them. Part of the problem for teams facing Donegal now is the growing myth surrounding Donegal (and in particular McGuinness) that they can't be beaten and thats why I'm surprised at McCartan's comments.

One of McGuinness' greatest virtues is nullifying the oppositions strengths so I wouldn't expect Mckernan or Poland to get anywhere near the amount of space they got yesterday. The game between these sides last year was over very early on and it wouldn't be realistic to expect to turn that around in 12 months.

After 50 minutes last year, Donegal were only ahead by 2 points and Down were very much in the game. The concession of the 2nd goal seems to deflate them completely and they allowed Donegal to run up 1-09 in the last 20 minutes but the game was very competitive up to that.

To be honest, I think he may have gotten hit bit or mauled in some way, but not badly. I think someone exaggerated the incident and then when the shit hit the fan were unwilling to put themselves in the way of a questioner.

But I know nothing, and that is pure conjecture. (Which I am happy to admit).

The only lads expressing certainty here are the conspiracy theorists from Dublin.

This sounds pretty definitive:

"the statements coming from Dublin posters is pure innuendo designed to deflect attention away from the fact that there was a bite."

You can be pedantic if you want and select bits of a sentence but that is designed simply to deflect attention from the fact that the Dublin arguments are nothing more than innuendo.

McGuinness' statement, together with those of county board officials and backroom team along with medical reports and photographs suggest to me that there was a bite. Seriously, who do you expect people to believe?

Has ANYONE other than the Donegal camp seen these bitemarks? Or the photographs?

The Dublin doctor and the medical staff in LK general have seen the bite. The CCCC and the CHC have seen the pictures. I'd say the pictures were also shared with the Dublin camp by the GAA as part of the hearing.

Has it ever came out when in the match this happened?
Was it during open play or did it happen at half time?

During the game, just before the half-time whistle. At the town end 45 towards the terrace side.

Allegedly of course  ::)
