It wasn't exactly a classic the last time we me in a wet, wintry Breffni Park, where Cavan ran out clear winners. Despite losing badly, Monaghan got promoted and won the division outright, while Cavan remain in Division 3.

This game has a lot more riding on it and hopefully in better conditions. Last time out key Monaghan players were targetted and reacted badly. Will it happen again?

Will  the Cavan blanket smother Monaghan's attack? Will Monaghan's defence smother the young Cavan guns?

Neither side will care about the quality of the football. The result is all that matters.

Bring it on.

Excuse my French mais je ne comprends pas. Traduction s'il vous plait.

Monaghan and Cavan particularly were renowned for a proliferation of potholes back in the day,n'cest pas?

Back in the day peut etre. Looks like it'll be a Free State Ulster Final, unless Down pull off a shocker.

Not that it matters, we're all the one...as long as Monaghan are there.

Same way Martin Dunne was targeted and ended up getting red after 15/20 minutes.
Monaghan finished with 12 that night, the same as Fermanagh in the League game against Cavan.

Long time since Cavan played Monaghan in the Championship, should be a good battle.

Was at the League game and not convinced by your Martin Dunne red card after 15/20 minutes reference. Could be wrong though. Monaghan and Fermanagh finish with 12 - clearly a pattern here.

So was I , you must have a bad memory

As for Monaghan finishing with 12, it was the pattern cynical pattern Fermanagh used in the league game. A miracle Dick Clerkin lasted the full game that night

Dick Clerkin, while no saint, wasn't the dirtiest player on the field that night in Cavan in the League. Linesmen and umpires need to be alive to the antics of the players and report them to the ref. That didn't happen than night. It was a farce of a game.

No ref could have officiated that game on his own. The same applies to the Ulster Semi Final. Hopefully we'll have more effective officials in this one.

And may the best team win.

It got a bit out of control that night. Cavan were the better team on the night and played most of the football. Monaghan were missing Finlay and Cavan were missing Keating.

May the best team win. Minors are playing before that. Ye will probably have too much for us in that game, but who know's.

From a Monaghan point of view I don't think Finlay's absence made any difference that night back in the league.

Since then Monaghan have met a similar 'park the bus along the '45 defence' against Antrim. Will it be dealt with better...who knows? It needs to be a lot better from a Monaghan perspective, as Cavan are better going forward.

Only Free State yella backed filth would like to claim that Donegal is in the Free State.
Name all the Donegal players from east Donegal Planter green grass lands.

Yella backed filth...whatever that means.  A nerve has been touched. It was said tongue in cheek. We won't go into why you think Donegal is less Free State than Cavan or Monaghan. I take it back rather than go down that road.

It's 30 years since a team from the 6 counties didn't contest the Ulster Final.  1983 Donegal beat Cavan in the final
