I take it that season ticket holders from Mayo and Galway (minor match) will not be entitled to buy stand tickets as a priority or anything like that ?

What about McHale Park/County Board seat holders. Will we get free tickets to the Connacht final or is that not part of the deal either. So far, the following competitions are not part of the McHale Park season ticket holder deal...
1) FBD League Games.
2) National Hurling League Games
3) Connacht Championship Games not involving Mayo.

I signed up for that McHale Park seat and have got very little out of it so far. Anyone else in the same boat?

Donegal's Jimmy White has been appointed as the man in the middle for the Connacht final he also was the ref in the Sligo v Mayo this year

P.S i'm nearly sure the Mchale park crossbars are still wooden?

Edit 100% wooden

Checked the crossbar tonight. It looks wooden but it is 100% steel. Will take some breaking. There was an unusual team in black training in McHale Park tonite, with a big buck from Galway refereeing in the middle.. I think there using it as their home ground for the next few weeks.

Jee's the Rossies are eyeing up the crossbar already.. I will have to have a word with the caretaker and make sure the crossbar is reinforced...

the last time a Connacht final in McHale park didn't involve Mayo was 1962 Roscommon 3-07 Galway 2-09

That was the famous broken crossbar incident when Roscommon were 5 points down in the second half and not too long left when goalkeeper Aidan Brady pulled down the crossbar. When it was fixed a rampaging Gerry O'Malley inspired Ros to victory - with the broken crossbar being the turning point in the game. Castlebar was actually always a very lucky ground for Roscommon and when Mayo defeated Roscommon there in 1992, it was probably the first time most Mayo supporters saw their county overcome Roscommon in Castlebar. There had been two draws there in 89 and 91 (Duggan's amazing free kick), while Ros won there in 86. Incidentally, when Roscommon lost their great record in Castlebar, Enon Gavin actually broke the crossbar again, thirty years after Aidan Brady had pulled it down. Ros have not won a senior game there since.

was there in 1991 and 1992 for that. imagine having a spare crossbar lying around the place!

Typical Rossies coming into Mayo and breaking our crossbars. You just couldn't watch them. I was also there the day Enon Gavin swung off the crossbar and brought it down. There was a spare crossbar on standby behind the goals, stored on top of the advertising hoardings. It only took about a minute or two to change the crossbar. It was noted that the crossbar was a bit rotten, and thats why a new one was on standby..
The good news for Rossies for next Sunday week, is that McHale Park now has steel crossbar's, so the can try and break them all they want. Knowing them shower though, they'll probably bring an anglegrinder with them...

The Connacht Senior Final will be in McHale Park Castlebar on Sunday 18th July at 4.00 between Sligo and Ross. It will be preceded by the Minor final between Mayo and Galway at 2.00. It was Sligo's call on where the final went to, but they couldnt host it in Sligo, as the ground is too small. Markievicz only holds about 18,000. McHale Park holds about 37,000. There is a crowd of about 25,000+ expected for the finals. Sligo will bring a big crowd as they are going well at the moment, and Ross will look forward to being in a Connacht final, without having to come up against either Mayo or Galway in it. A large Mayo crowd will be present aswel, as the Mayo minors are the only team left to support. It will be a novel final, and hopefully the Mayo CB will get the crowd they are hoping for....

If talk and hot air could win an Ireland, Mayo would win it every year. Forty-four pages of tripe talk on the first round of the Connacht Championship. We are so good at talking about it, that we have put forward a whole army of former players to talk about it on the National stage. They are roled out every weekend on the Sunday Game to talk, M Carney (very much so Marty), K McStay, D Brady, J Maughan, J O'Mahoney (before his current job - and straight away when Mayo get knocked out), and low and behold - Liam McHale arrives on the scene last weekend. We have nearly a 7-a-side team of All-Star talkers... If only it could win all Irelands....

Im just wondering - did anybody who is a McHale Park season ticket holder - get a ticket/free pass in the post for the NHL game v Kerry. Im a season ticket holder, but had to pay Eur10 at the gate to get into the hurling. I didnt go to the Mayo-Galway football game last month, and tried to use that pass to get into the hurling - but it was refused.

It's not good enough when season ticket holders who pay out Eur400 a year cant get into NHL home games.

Just heard that convention voted for the return of the divisional sides to the senior championship. That means the junior clubs will amalgamate to form North, South, East & West Mayo for Senior. It breaks down as follows:
North - Ardmoy, Lacken, Ardnaree, Lahardane, Kilfian & Ballycastle.
West - Islandeady, Louisburgh, Balla & Parke.
South - Carramore & Neale.
East - Kilmovee & Eastern Gaels.

Would be a good idea for him to play last years U21 team. They would be all U22 for next season. Them lads were really good. Keep them together and push for Munster Senior Championship in 2011 with these lads.

The Junior A championship consisted of 8 groups of 4 teams.
Thats 32 teams playing in the preliminary rounds of the championship...

Crazy!

Then, 2 teams from each group qualified for round 1 of the qualifiers (16 teams)
After that, you have the quarters.

All in all there is way too many teams playing Junior A

A lot of teams conceded and were getting hockied in the early stages of the campaign.
It should be seeded next year and a lot of teams should be playing in a B championship.
[/quote]

I agree. 32 teams in the one competition is a joke. Some of the teams in Junior would be pushing for a place in Division1B while some B teams would be just happy to field and get a game of football.

I think its time to have a JuniorA with 16 teams and a JuniorB competition with the rest. The likes of Ballycroy, Kilfian, Kilmovee, Eastern Gaels, Balla, Ardmoy and Lacken could then have something reasonable to aim for. A JuniorB county title would be a great boost for them, and would set them up nicely for the follwoing year.

Maybe this is something the county board should look at for next year....

The main pitch in Glenalbyn is full width but just shy of full length.

The outside pitches are either juvenile pitches or rugby pitches - which is just perfect. However, if you get a goalie with a good puck-out, and the wind at his back, he can have pot-shots for scores. I remember a few years ago we had a good goalie on a windy day. He put three puck-outs over the bar the opposite side.

In the football however, the Glenalbyn pitch is shortened a bit more - cos theres more running in the football.

Looking forward to the day. Heading up tonight for the weekend. The club has got about 20 AI tickets so should be a great weekend.

There is nothing to object to, I'll explain.

Kerry made 5 substitutions in regular time. Extra time is considered a new game. Both teams can choose any 15 from the panel to start. P Joy started extra time instead of Jack Sherwood. P Joy is not considered a sub (as it's a new game). Kerry made 3 substitutions in extra time for a total of 8 overall.

In all my time watching, playing and managing in gaelic football i have never heard this. Not doubting you but if it is the case then i would reckon it is not very well known at all cos surely we would have seen some controversy in the past whereby some manager or other "takes advantage" of this rule with ensuing controversy due to ignorance of the rule only for it to be clarified at a later stage that no rule was broken.

If this rule is the reality then surely the tactically appropriate thing to do on the law of averages is to make 1 or 2 subs at the start of ET so that you can make 3 more during ET.

Not only can you make an unlimited amount of substitutions before extra time, but if your team have been reduced to 14 players during the game due to a red card, you may start with 15 for extra time (but the player sent off cant come on). I cant believe that theres four pages of posts on this.

If you are a coach you should know all these simple rules. Its not something you'd plan for as it rarely happens.
