Buíochas mór don Ros Comáineach uasal Dúbhglás De Híde (an Craoibhinn Aoibhinn)a chuir stop le bás na Gaeilge nuair a bhunaigh sé Conradh na Gaeilge i 1893.

It'll be interesting to see if Maughan can win that elusive national title - in Croker and against Meath.

Ahem  :o Match is in Breffni Park. An earlier post had Maughan saying the game was in Clones :P
Mayo bucks mustnt be too good at the Geography.

Some facts -for the umpeenth time- SD CoCouncil paid €1.5mil to get their own land back from Shambeggars. They also have to pay the Builder and various architects/engineers/Q Surveyors outstanding debts left by the Shambeggars.
At this point app €3.4m or €3.7 m of public monies has been spent on the ruin in Tallaght.- estimated at over €600,000.
Then there's the whole question -even if the Council get the go ahead to build a soccer only stadium- of public procurement. The Council can hardly just appoint the same builder that Shambeggars had without going to tender. That is against Irish and EU Law.
Why are the Shams backers spreading so many pseudo fictional comments about this whole sad sorry saga which could be sorted out in 5 minutes around a table.l

, it seems to be all give by the GAA and none by the soccer.

The day soccer has something to give to the GAA will be some day.
All that lot have is the hand out all the time >:(

These games must be in Croke Park alright as they are offering tickets for sale on www.gaa.ie for them in Croke Pk.
Believe it or not they are offering tickets for "NFL play off" games on Sat evening 21st April also. I beleieve they intend playing the Div 2 Semis that evening unless 2a has playoffs.
Does this mean that if there are playoffs in Div 2a - they will be played in Croker?
Depending on next weeks results 4 teams could end up on 8 points - there would be a need for two rounds of playoffs !!!

[ the GAA in Castlebar had the freedom to build a facility without ouside influences like the courts and other sporting bodies dictating things. .

The big difference is - 1 -the GAA OWN McHale Park
2 - they are improving what they built there already
3 -they are getting percentage grants TOWARDS the overall cost(like all other sports facilities except ONE)
4 -it is NOT Mayo Co Council building a County Stadium which if they did should be for all the people of Mayo.
Meanwhile in Tallaght Shiterock Beggars want a free public facility built for them because they couldnt raise the funds to build it themselves on the free site they were given.
The GAA rightly want the County Stadium to be able to host their games too and the High Court has said they have a point.
As for Cumann Thomáis Dáibheis - I'm sure the club are behind the action as unlike Soccer -GAA clubs are organised bodies and one man cant run off taking Court cases on his own.

"I could not agree to providing a regulation pitch for the simple reason that this could lead to a reduction in the capacity of the stadium," said John O'Donoghue yesterday.

Isnt the thing in the middle of a great big park with only the shell of one stand put up?.
What's to stop them making it as big as they wish ?

I don't mind one way or the other with the names but I do get pissed off watching the Minor All Ireland final on TV cuz I can't understand a word of the commentary. I imagine I am the same most other viewers. Time for a change there I think!!
Maybe it's time for you to learn a biteen of Gaeilge instead? :P
