I believe there was a bit of controversy with the Trath nagCeist. Rumour has it there was an appeal on the day and another one been taken this week to Croke Park. Anyone hear about this?

yes i believe the runners up were quite irate on saturday and indeed intend to put in an objection

havent heard any outcome of that yet though

But sure what's central council going to do, have never heard of anyone having an appeal rightfully dealt with after an all Ireland. It's very silly. I've witnessed very poor judgements in my time and they have never been upheld. I wasn't in the hall for the question time but heard what went on. I feel so sorry for Cornafean, they def have a case.

I definitely think that there were a few Suss results. Those that would stand out for me were the solo singing, Ballad group & recitation . Solo singing should have sent to girl from Westmeath, I Tought she was miles in front of anyone else there- this seemed to be the general consensus of anyone I spoke with also, same with ballad group- Tought Limerick myself had something special & Tipperary in the recitation. This however is scor where sometimes not necessarily the best act wins, it was overheard in the bar after from a scor official "sure isnt it great every  provence got two titles, brilliant to keep an interest but not necessarily fair.

I mean this in the nicest way possible I really do but I think it's very amateurish. Judges who have no formal qualification in music are asked to judge items and to be fair what one person might like another may not.

I'm not sure about Provincial and All Ireland judging but at county level some of the judging of these events is at best questionable and that is as diplomatic as I can put it

I completely agree with you - Having been on the end of a similar situation a few years ago I know their pain

Mind you in the cold light of day The Downs must have a hollow feel about their 'success' in the Set Dancing
Oh yeah? why's that.

The MC announced The Downs as the winners, but he then realised that there had been a mistake and he then announced that Boherbue had won. By this point The Downs were on the stage being congratulated by Christie Cooney.  So the MC, after consulting with the adjuicators announced that there were joint winners.  It was the only way out of a difficult situation as some of The Downs team were in tears while others were getting very irate. Mind you, those who know about set dancing were of the opinion that The Downs, at best, might have came third and they did seem surprised when their name was announced.

I think what happened to the downs was a disgrance - Fair enough if a mistake was made it was made but in all honesty this is the All Ireland, Results etc should be watertight. The Downs have been knocking on the door for a very very long time. The kids had their medals taken off them and were sent home without medals as the officials did not have enough for cork and themselves. They kids still have no medals and there is no talk of them getting them.. Its not exactly fair I think

The very same thing happened to me yesterday. I had 3 kids there whom i wanted to get the stubs for as it was the first game. I went ahead and gave in all tickets. I looked for stubs back and was told i didn't need them !

Wish i had insisted now.... Thats the first time it ever happened to me at a game down there !
