These two dumb blondes of countys always known for their hills and valleys, their stunning natural beauty but not much else to write home about, could be about to become the Texas of Ireland have now discovered they are sitting on a fortune.  Is the time right to frack the living daylights out of Fermanagh and Leitrim?

GAA Discussion / THE KERRY CHRONICLE
January 27, 2012, 01:58:20 PM
Welcome to the first edition of the Kerry Chronicle - an online Kerry News board.  We aim to give a centrepoint resource for all things Kerry.  Feel free to copy and paste what will ultimately be a virtual library, indeed a one stop shop of all articles and interviews concerning our county teams, our games, our clubs and even our politicians.  Please remember to keep it clean, keep any articles referenced to the newspaper, radio station, TV programme or webpage that they came from.  Feel free to add articles of historical values, and your own commentary.  Lets build up a picture for someone who dosent know what way we do things in Kerry.  Lets get started...

Reading up about this boy he seems to be going places.  Is he really Irish or the greatest want to be Irish sportsman since Tony Cascarino?  Wants to box in Croker and wear the Antrim jersey in Croke Park, better be prepared for a bating then!!).  The only Furys I knew played with Davey Arthur and played in centre of Croke Park in 1991 from memory - so there is a precedent.  Irish or no?

GAA Discussion / Rule Changes
September 19, 2011, 03:14:43 PM
What rule changes will be introduced after yesterdays result:
1) Game timing will have to be looked at.  That game could have been finished in a draw.
2) Goalkeepers taking freekicks, with Brogan not up for it if the goalie thing had a rule attached, then maybe Cluxton would have had to stay in goals.
3) As someone said last night if the game had been the same length as club games and level accross the spectrums of clubs and counties, Kerry would have won that all ireland.  Why play a different length of time at club and county level ie 70 min V 60 min.  Is there any other sport in the world that does this. Perhaps Kerry mentally switched off because they felt the game was over.
4) if a video ref was introduced Brennan may have seen red.  The free kick in the Kerry square may not have happened.
All potential rule changes for us to mull over during the national league.

GAA Discussion / Worst game of all time
September 01, 2011, 09:42:43 AM
In response to what I think is Pat Spillane inspired overreaction (no difference in Spillane and Marty Boyle in that context in my eyes) the people have their final and its Kerry V Dublin, should be a good game.  But genuinely if people think back to high profile Croke Park games what is the worst you have ever witnessed.

Mine is Donegal V Mayo 1992 AISF.  It was putrid - the only difference is that you didnt have Spillane and his sidekicks doing a job on it.  The level of skills, attacking and defensive that day was far inferior to last Sunday. But it didnt matter.  Pat is priceless at creating fear in the GAA public that their games are being sullied and changed forever asnd for the worst.

GAA Discussion / Income generators for the GAA
April 28, 2011, 04:01:56 PM
Just a wee question - Does anyone know if the GAA Cul camps are a not for profit organisation, a company that pays profits to a set of directors /shareholders or a company that provides profitable income for the GAA?  They look like a great idea with a great potential reach of users.

GAA Discussion / Tyrone V Kildare
March 24, 2011, 10:09:53 AM
Its set to be a 4 pointer with the winner having a real chance of promotion.  After several years huffing and puffing the flour bags must finally win soimething thsi year surely.  On current form the Leinster team look to have a slight edge on Tyrones weary warriors, but who would rule out the likes of the inform Sean Cavanagh, playing like a 21 year old again, and co. to wipe the smile off McGeeneys face?

Ive listened fairly intently to Enda Kenny over the last 2 weeks with an open mind.   Im sorry to say that Im asolutely convinced that the biggest bluffer I have ever heard in politics is about to be handed the leadership reins in Ireland.  His party are more resemblent to a "Fianna Fail lite" and I doubt their ability to provide anything original or indeed thoughtful in terms of management.  If I was running anything from a family to a business in the South I would be very nervous indeed.  The people who vote FG in can no longer blame the government for wrecking the country.

GAA Discussion / SLIGO V TYRONE NFL 2
February 22, 2011, 02:11:01 PM
The big battle of the red and whites versus the black and tans - well thats if O Hara is togging out!!   Suppose its time to start looking forward again.  Back to the scene of the coldest game perhaps in GAA history NFL 1986/87 - I think.  There was wind, snow, hail, sleet and puddles and the football matched the weather.  Any of ye remember it?  Sligo look to be struggling this year as are Tyrone - Id have expected them to be right tight opposition.  We have our own woes - whats going wrong over there on the west coast lads.  Can we get some sort of revenge for 2002 in Croke Park?

GAA Discussion / Come on Down and Tyrone!
September 17, 2010, 01:31:43 PM
Just wishing Down the best on Sunday and hope that we can make it an Ulster Double.  Would like to wish the two top Tyrone men Paddy Tally and Brian Mc Ivor all the best. Lets have a good united Ulster support versus the corkonians.

I think Louth have been a breath of fresh air this year,  but they'll have to raise their game.  That Meath team look like they could create a bit of havoc this year.

GAA Discussion / Footballer of the Year 2009
September 24, 2009, 08:37:53 AM
There seemed to be a commentry leaning towards Galvin or "Dooher lite" as we call him in Tyrone as footballe of the Year.  He had a fantastic season this year and to me he is a shoo in. .  Who are the other contenders in 2009 especially from a Kerry perspective?

I picked a few high profile games that I was at that most on here should remember in order to assess who has entertained the most in all ireland finals in the last quarter century.  Nearly every game the dubs played in was a bogger and unfortunately it dosent show up well for the kingdom.  Viva Cill dara

Just a wee question what is the individual roll of honor amongst captains who have lifted Sam?  Have we had guys who captained their county to 3 or more Sams
Im just wondering where Dooher stands on the all time list of greatest captains.

Dooher Brian:  2 captains medals / 1 team
O Sullivan Declan: 2 captains medals ?
etc

In the Irish news today Stevie mac staunchly fights his corner claiming that its going to take a good team to beat Armagh this year and defends his manager and team herociacally against the naymen and sooth sayers.  Its a fair move by Mc Donnell and in general is probably needed, having read many of the Armagh commenteers on here that the sky is falling in and the camp is fragmenting.  Does it reassure the Armagh fans on here or is it simply corrective PR.

I see Joe had a pot at Pat in the Gaelic Life seemingly sparked off by Pats suggestion that his retreating to the analysts chair will "raise the bar" in Gaa analyism.  Pats simply been sacked as far as Joe is concerned and puts up there a prudent diagnosis on why it all went wrong for Spillane including a reference to the campaign on GAA discussion boards to have the man sacked.  Regardless of the sacking of Pat and its cruel public l nature its quite clear Brolly is relishing a crack at him and undoubtedly Pat will give Brolly his fill as well. Should make for a much more interesting series of shows this year with Des Cahill being as much a referee as a facilitator.  I would imagine that there will be a obvious culture clash on Northern V Kerry football, particulalry if Derry get a chance to deflower Kerry, but I think Pat is set to get challenged this year over every bit of pro kerry PR gank uttered.

GAA Discussion / Can Kerry be bet in 2009?
March 12, 2009, 08:26:39 AM
3 from 3, Gooch looking hungry; Tadgh looking menacing; star, Walsh and Moran looking big and ignorant; and Galvin looking to play football,  O Connor looking revenge, and O Mahony looking to stay on his feet, and Mike Frank looking for another medal,  is this the year that the Kerry team finally put a decade of turmoil behind them, scarred by habitual big game collapses in Croke Park from Meath to Armagh and Tyrone (3).  I see Kerry as the most motivated county in Ireland -  I mean every year Darragh wants to retire - Tyrone beat them and he cant leave it at that.  So to me Kerry have the most motivation, to turn it around this year.  I think the league is a formaility and the championship will surely follow.  Discuss!
