Can anyone from Dublin tell me why Ciarán Archer who would be around 24 now hasn't made the step up to Dublin senior team and is he even on the panel at the moment?

A talented player but don't think he better than what on panel now. Quality freetaker but for me doesn't do enough from play  and without the ball. He was on senior panel in 2022 but picked up an injury and never got back in.

A few of the forwards on the Dublin panel at the moment Ross McGarry,Killian O'Gara,Lorcan O'Dell,Killian McGinnis. He must have fallen back a fair bit from his days standing out at U20 level if not better than some of them now.

He's definitely better at kicking points than any of them, but there's more to being an intercounty player than that. His club being in D3 doesn't help with being able to play himself back in.

GAAgo is decent when you are abroad and worthwhile.

But it's a shambles at home. Poor quality and poor value. I'm amazed at the people falling for the GAA/RTE propaganda and defending it on here! 

People comparing it to paying to a Sky subscription are being disingenuous (or have been misled by those being disingenuous). Sky Sports contains a massive range of different sports and price is not dependent on what you watch. GAAgo is a pay per view service more similar to Sky Box Office.

The premier league, which is pure money driven, tried to bring in a pay per view service on top of their Sky/BT offering. A 'season ticket' element similar to GAAgo was offered as well as single games. However, the English fans were tuned in enough to realize the massive difference between PPV and the general Sky Sports subscription, they complained and the premier league were forced to back track and abandon it.

There should be 4 games on TV every weekend during the season. Plenty of room in the schedule,  they've no problem finding room for 3 or 4 games every single day during world cups. Virgin/TV3 were effectively priced out of it by GAA/RTE looking to gouge us.

And there is absolutely no reason GAAgo could not be free. Could be funded by a sponsor and by adverts. And if it was free there would be considerably more people tuning in, which would increase sponsorship and advertising value.

If people have enough money to pay for this mediocre service, then I've absolutely no problem with them spending their excess cash however they wish, but the narrative that it's great value and we're lucky to have it is absolute nonsense.

Yep, that's why Monaghan are unbeatable at Clones,  Mayo unbeatable at Castlebar, etc.

Totally agree that no Leinster quarters or semis should be played in Croke Park, but that's Leinster Council

That's certainly more to do with it than the GDOs and Croke Park.
The GDOs are a complete red herring. They have nothing to do with elite players in clubs, never mind county level.
Empirical evidence suggests there is almost no such thing as home advantage in GAA as most matches are between 60-40 to 40-60 supporter levels. Since Super 8 came in and then round robin, results have shown no advantage to playing at home. Likewise when you examine Connacht and Ulster championship. There are as many away wins as home wins.

Now, if there are games where Dubs (or anyone else) have 70-80% of the crowd, then absolutely that's an advantage. But that never happens at AI semi and final level. And only started happening at Leinster final level when Kildare and Meath fans gave up the ghost.

At minor and U20/1 level, there is rarely anything between Dubs, Kildare and Meath. The current pick of all three senior teams comes from lads who played in those games. Dublin club levels doesn't really increase the pick for the Dubs, in that if you haven't played minor and/or U20 you're not getting picked by the Dubs (with very very rare exception) but it's huge in bridging the gap from underage to adult. Week-in, week-out high quality football. That for me has to be one of the key reasons Dublin players seem to improve after U20 (and we probably retain more in the game too) than many other counties.

There are other advantages we have, such as everyone living in the county and less wasted travel time to training etc (esp compared to the likes of Mayo).

People who spout on that the games development funding is even remotely anything to do with how the Dubs go from being one of many counties that regularly produce decent underage teams to being so outstanding at senior intercounty are way off base. Either just ignorant or deliberately misleading

Many of the Dubs just a little off, but Fenton is immense. Super finish for the Louth goal,  but they'll need another one.

Great stuff from Louth. Would fear they will run out of steam as they are working so hard. Need to take their chances and don't make any stupid mistakes. A Louth goal could throw the cat among the pigeons, but Dubs more likely to be the ones to grab the 3-pointer.

Very much enjoyed the game. Both teams had great attitude and tried to do it the right way. Best team on the day won, imo. Galway keeper is a disaster waiting to happen when soloing up the field, but in fairness, he did cop on to that, eventually. And the ball he won in midfield followed by the massive free winner was great,so fair play to him.

As a Dub, I have to say I really fear Comer!  Monster player, really hope he stays fit for the business end.

I think most of the criticism of football refs is biased nonsense, often in ignorance of the rules. But Gough was terrible today.

And just in case there's some posters who don't know: "SouthDublinBr" is a Cavan man. Why he chooses to abandon his normal moniker when slagging off Monaghan, Tyrone, and now Mayo, I do not know, and it's not a surface I want to scratch, people should just put him on ignore as he never posts genuine posts under this handle.

Very enjoyable game. Result not overly important in the big scheme, both will be in the last 8 when the big cup is on the line.

Lynch does that in every game (as do some others) so big kudos to McGuinness and Donegal for figuring out a plan to exploit it. But Derry will learn heaps from it.

Ridiculous from Canavan (who I usually like) in the after match comments implying Derry would have been better had they not make the league final. The key moments from that game were the Donegal goals, and Derry would not have played Lynch any differently had they not made the league final.

If they meet again in an AI quarter or semi, I'd have a very slight edge for Derry, as they wouldn't give those stupid goals away next time,  but Donegal will improve too so would be hard to call and could defo go either way.

You get tackled like that 10 times a game, no idea what he's reacting to.

It was in the goolies. Hence the red mist. But wouldn't have been a red card but for the overreaction to it. Didn't matter in the end anyway.
