45 not having a go at you !

but to give a reply we had a bad start to the league - first 2 games conceded 6-21.  After that our defense improved (Waterford 3 exempt).  Yes I'd prefer to see Reynolds back there but is he able for it as years are passing by.  J Glancy hasn't been that bad bring the ball forward and has scored as far as I can remember.  O Flynn is questionable.  S Foley should make it although this year sees him with the stiffest competition in years,  his player of the yr award was warranted last year but he was almost guaranteed a place prior to this due to lack of competition.  He should be there as hb to add a positive effect up front but he's not suitable to any other role.

M&M's record isn't that bad with other counties,  they shake things up just like most other manager doe on entry.  I think last few yrs lineouts need a shakeup as they weren't able to make the break - which they proved.

Let's wait and see what will unfold.......  Free winners and takers may decide our fate.

We may have conceded less in the last six games but I wouldn't brag about it considering the opposition (Kilkenny, Carlow..), I think you'll find the Roscommon forwards division to be better units than Wicklow, Antrim and Waterford.  They fairly shake things up alright!! But for the better or the worse only time will tell.

Putting all my arguements to one side, I'll still be heading to Carrick Sean on the 31st mad to beat that shower from across the water!!

p.s. I mentioned the last time we were playing Ross in the Junior game tonight, its actually Mayo. Good game in prospect none the less.

they've butchered a very solid outift which just needed some guidedance rather than ripping apart the whole team and starting from scratch.

I think that they have spotted our heretofore dangerous situation of not having anyone coming through the ranks in the next yr or 2 and also the gaps that were in the Dolan 4yr old setup.  They quickly saw that our U21 and Minor teams have a desperate track record in recent years and set about trawling the county.

Now Leitrim have a large panel and to be honest while not everyone played well in every game of the league the players with potential have shone through after a bit of settling.  The mgt team will end up with most of the quality players of last year and hopefully will plug the gaps with new players.  They are also planning for the future years ahead.

In my opinion therefore it's not all negative - I actually see some light at the end of the tunnell.  Leitrim just missed out on promotion. 5 Wins, 1 Draw, 2 lost.  (Waterford and Antrim games cost us dearly)

Play appears to be more freeflowing and not the old Dolan 1 dimensional option of push in Maxwell to 14 and pump Moon balls into him and pray he manages to do something with every 1 in 5.

Mulligan will be a big loss in any event.

In fairness there was issues with strength in depth, as we are lacking any real threat in the forwards and no reliable ball winners at midfield, to their credit M&M have looked under every stone in the county and even done a bit of the Jack Charlton with the Parental rule. But this doesn't gloss over the fact that they have effectively dismantled Leitrims once reliable area of Defense, I mean if we don't have a solid defense for the Championship then we could be in for hammerings in both Connacht and the Qualifiers. Whats the story with playing one of our best corner backs in decades Reynolds at half forward against Clare, persisting with Glancy and O'Flynn who have no real ability when it comes to bringing the ball out of defense. Then the real puzzler is S Foley not even getting a game in the League he's been one of our most consistant performers for the decade, you don't become a bad player over night.

I think some of the posters on here aren't suprised as they've seen it with their own counties with these in pair in charge previously.

As it's getting closer I thought it was time to bring this topic back into play again.
Not a whole pile of optimism around our parts about this one. I suppose the fear is even if we win we are only setting ourselves up for another black day in Castlebar.

Same view this side of the Carrick.  We are very much "in transition" with the new lads in charge, they've butchered a very solid outift which just needed some guidedance rather than ripping apart the whole team and starting from scratch.  Very little confidence here in Leitrim but at least we have a chance to get a warmup to the finale with the Junior semi final in Carrick this Friday evening, I've gone to a lot of these Junior games over the years and have seen some cracking games as players seem to play with a bit more freedom.

Neither team will fancy playing Mayo.

Jinxy,
Be in no doubt that Celeb Bainisteoir is primarily about the celebs and less about clubs involved and even less again about the GAA itself.
Any benefit gained by the GAA are secondary to RTEs brocasting needs, they are just making another programme.  That is not to say that the programme does have definite gains for the Association in terms of providing another publicity platform set in a GAA context.
I am sure the clubs involved and their local communities derive great fun and even pride from CB (although I have heard that the teams that win it fair poorly in their home competitions as a result??)

The Puberty show was designed durely as a preview for tonight's final broadcast, the celebs and nothing else whatsoever.

Totally agree with you, Davis lowered himself to Lynchs level which I was very surprised by as he always came across as being very well spoken. There was very little talked about the affect the whole series has had on Dromhaire from my own point of view. It has transformed this club which has had some very promising underage coming through over the last 5-10 years but were always a yo yo intermediate junior team, but this year they have won five from five in Division 2 of the league and look a safe bet for promotion while the Championship could see them leaping from a very poor Intermediate outfit to a senior club in the space of 12 months.  Apparently Mickey Quinn has done a power of work with the team behind the scenes and because of this he has agreed to take them over for the rest of the season.

Quite a difference in those statements.

Though the Mayo reps of last year might have a view on it from their now-Junior perspective. :P

45goneshort - you a Dromahair man yourself? We played them a few times a few years back when they were in Connacht. They are definitely going well in the league, a big change from before. Maybe could they upstage the neighbours in the Championship?

No I'm a South Leitrim Man - If they can keep feet on the ground and bring that same attitude that brought them to the Final then they should be dead certs to get to the Final.  I'm sure Mickey Quinn will bring them back down to earth, very good manager and commands respect everywhere he goes (he's still playing junior football at the age of 50 and still lords it at midfield in the odd game!!) This programme will be just the "kick up the arse" Dromahaire needed as its no secret that have failed over the last few years to carry underage success onto the adult grades.

I don't think Derek Davis came across very well.
I thought the interview was pretty uncomfortable viewing in general but I'd blame Derek more than the other one.
Dunno if he'd had a few but his "sexual favours" comment at the start set the tone for the whole thing and instead of anything positive being said about the GAA and the clubs involved it just descended into the two of them making smart comments about each other.
A proper presenter could have sorted it out easily enough but that gimp Tubridy is hopeless.

I'd still be delighted to win Leinster.

Dissappointed about that result, even against Galway who I rate highly, letting by 2-20 doesnt bode well, though I guess perhaps it might not have been played at championship intensity.

Someone mentioned that Alan Brogans injured on Hoganstand, any truth in it.

edit** We apparently lost to Leitrim 0-12 to 0-5. How in the name of f u c k did we manage that. Christ I hope Eamonn is saving something for Dublin, otherwise I feel we are going to be made sh!t of by the Dubs.

If it makes you feel any better, Leitrim were only at half strength.   :)

A miserable Summer in Leitrim is just what the doctor ordered. ;D
Anyway werent ye giving out about the Tommy Murphy Cup till ye got rid of it. That would have given ye a game or two or even a win or two over the Summer.
Instead ye're going into the Qualifiers again where I believe Laythrum has a 0% record -- 7 games 7 defeats.

Its not all bad - Katherine Lynchs Dromahaire won their semi final of the Celebrity Baineteoir Today 2-6 0-11 against Rockwell  ;D

Bad news for Leitrim - Emlyn Mulligan is probably out for the rest of the year with a bad knee injury, definitely out for the Ross game.
