Well after 10 years of hard service my first computer has finally packed it in. Have only been using it for downloading this last 4 years but my god she has done well. Anyone out there with an other machine still working

I've a 10-12 yr old Pentium which I;ve cranked up to do the job.  Won;t hold out much lover so I've backed-up everything dear to me on an external hard-drive.

If you are employed ask your employer to supply you with a new PC thru the Computers For Homes scheme.   Pick the best one you can get with bells & whistles and get the invoice sent to your employer.  He then deducts the cost from your gross salary over 2 years so you save betwen 22% & 40% on the cost depending on your tax code.

I have 2 commodore 64's up in the attic but they still work. They must be 20 years old at this stage.

The 48k. The buzzing from the adaptor was deafening after about 10 years and had to be retired. Up in Saffron Sam's ma's house.
