A major road block in the way of Martin Mc Hugh becoming Donegal manager has been removed this week with the news that Charlie O Donnell, former County Board Chairman and Treasurer has been appointed the new County Administer for a 7 year term. What differences does this make to Mc Hugh you might ask well it means that Noreen Doherty now has no part on the County Board anymore with Charlie O Donnell getting the job ahead of her. Noreen has been County secretary since about 1990 and was on the Small committee that didn't give Mc Hugh the managers job when he wanted it back in 1994 after Mc Eniff resigned after the Ulster CHAMPIONSHIP. Mc Hugh said he would never again look for the Donegal Job as long as them same people from 1994 were still on the board. With Charlie O' Donnell also being a Kilcar club man it looks all set for the wee man if he wants the job.

He won an Ulster title with Cavan in 1997 and a few SIGERSON CUPS with Sligo I.T. not a bad record. His record of taking a team and winning something is very good.

Oakleafer1993

yeah maybe McIvor could then come and manage Derry.........

I do not understand why anyone with a reputation like Mc Hugh's would touch this generation of Donegal players with a barge pole...no guts, heart in this current generation. He may wait for a few years

Yeah and his record for talking complete shite is even better.

If the Donegal men cant stay of the drink now there would be no hope if McHugh took over because that wee Goblin would drive anybody to the Drink!!
If it moves hit it
If it doesnt hit it anyway!!

Yes I Would

Im not sure if he would have the bottle. He seems all too happy telling other managers and teams how they should be doing it!!

Would youse Draperstown men every give it a rest? On and on and on. I know what your problem is. Youse live too close to Tyrone, and thats why you continually harp on about something that happened times ago.

Surely these are the very things a good manager can bring out. Then as long as the talent and ability is there, you have a decent chance. Am i the only one who thinks that Donegal have under-achieved in recent years?

Donegal had plenty of hammerings and false dawns in McHugh's day as well. The 1991 Ulster final comes to mind especially as a day when the players couldn't live up to expectations.

By 91 they had least won an Ulster c'ship showing they had the balls for championship football.....this curent group has consistently proved they have not the balls for c'ship football.

And I'd love to see McHugh taking the job. He did a good job with Cavan and Sligo IT - there's no reason why he couldn't get the best out of the Donegal seniors.
