I see in the Gaelic Life this morning the main headline is that the GAA should take action against holyland thugs WTF. Are they now looking to suspend people from GAA for shouting at RUC/PSNI in holylands absolute bullshit sure while we are at it we should be getting Celtic football club to take action as well.  Actually liked getting Gaelic Life on a Friday will seriously consider buying it again carrying headlines like that its supposed to be a sports paper bullshit

Complete nonsense. Who came out with this? We have enough problems of our own to deal with inside the Association without trying to take on the law and order of drunken idiots as well.

Actually it set itself up as a paper to talk about all aspects of Gaelic Life, not just the sports themselves, so whether you agree with their opinion or not, it's arguably well within their remit.

I paid £225 of my trainee accountant wages to him back in 2002/3.  When we left, he had the agent round to arrange putting up a stud wall to make half of a through lounge into a bedroom.

I was in oneills over in liverpool, the place starting serving at 9 in the morning. by 10 when I arrived there was a queue to get in! not one bit of trouble all day or night!

Whilst it's not the GAA's responsibility, there were numerous GAA tops evident in the pictures broadcast and published. This doesn't do the GAA any favours (and is used as a stick to beat the GAA in certain sections of the media).

It might just be in the interest of clubs to have a quiet word with some of the offending people and make them aware of the consequences of their actions and the impact of this on the GAA. Scroll up this thread and see reference to a club jersey - no club wants that publicity. I don't think it should be about suspending people from the GAA, but maybe a few words from their club back home may make them think twice - indeed their club may have more influence over them than anything the University might do.

in my experience students wud wake up in a house and throw the 1st top they see on them. e.g. might be an armagh boy living with a derry boy and they might be wearing the others hoddy.  or mates from different counties buying their mates/being given/stealing(t o hare ) their club jersey.  what exactly they going to say to the student anyway?  you where drunk 6 months before the championship you wont be starting?

Seven students in trouble arrests 

Trouble broke out in the area on Sat Patrick's Day
Seven of the 19 people arrested during St Patrick's Day trouble in south Belfast's Holyland area were students at the University of Ulster.

The university has said of those, one has been charged and police inquiries into the other six are continuing.

It added that its own disciplinary procedures would not be limited to those arrested or charged.

House parties in the area spilled onto the streets before the trouble, and a minority threw missiles at police.

A car was also burnt-out.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Richard Barnett said any of students found to have brought the university into disrepute would face disciplinary action.

"Whilst recognising that the vast majority of our students are socially responsible and hard working, a handful of students has brought disgrace to their fellow students and to the university, and misery to local residents," he said.

"They must be under no illusion that this type of behaviour will be tolerated or excused.

"We will be working closely with Belfast City Council and other agencies to address the complex situation that has given rise to this problem."

Queen's University has said one of their students was amongst the 19 people arrested.
