All the justified comments made by Hurler in previous post, could equally be applied to any City or Town in Ireland. We have become a society who have lost all sense of law. We have no order and without that there can be no law. While we continue to turn a blind eye to  to loutish behaviour, and drink, drug fuelled excesses, things will only get worse. While our thoughts and prayers or with this young Roscommon man and his family at the moment, next week it could be you or a member of your family. No one has shouted stop

I wouldnt dwell on where it happened too much, another fella is also in intensvive care after getting a beating on the Falls Rd on Friday night, it is happening everywhere.

Indeed, sure it could easily have happened in his local town, it has the boyos to do such a thing for sure. And society is going down the tubes, but sure any suggestions to try and crack down will get drowned out by the usual Labour/human rights/social groups who will talk of "not understanding" them and their "poor upbringing"*, sure what hope have we got?

In fairness Bradbury place would generally be worse than most other places in Ireland and the southern accent won't have helped int he slightest (although it could easily have happened to anyone regardless of religion). Real sad to hear of this happening. I'd a lucky escape a few months back and it'd really make ya think twice about walking around Belfast on your own.

Terrible news. Was mentioned on radio earlier that it was an unprovoked attack. You head out for a few beers and some low life decides you are the random target of a beating. Shocking.

Sincerely hope that Paul makes a full recovery.

Have got to know Paul myself over the last couple of years through work.  Hope he makes a full recovery.  When he does it will be difficult for him and his family as he is self employed.  Get well soon Paul

Shocking, but unfortunately not overly surprising. Bradbury is a rough joint at night, I just put the head down and march throu ASAP when I go through it at night.

Would echo all of the comments here. Absolutely shocking. I know Paul through football, and I just pray that he makes a full recovery.

Every time you open your mouth you have this wonderful ability to continually confirm what I think.

Paul is improving thank God.
I heard tell he was talking to some members of his family yesterday or today which I hope is true.

After having a depressing weekend football wise, that good news is a boost. Hope he continues to a full recovery.

I've heard that the news is pretty positive which is brilliant. I hope what Rossfan has heard is true and that he makes a good recovery.

I spotted this on "stolensheep" to which Paul used to contribute(posted yesterday) :-
"Spoke to some one who spoke to John, he said he was sitting up in the bed being fed on yoghurt, John also said "he's talking gibberish but that's normal so he must be ok"  "

Sounds good thank God.

John is Paul's brother -ex Ros Co player of distinction and was the Detective who was minder for Mary McAleese for a number of years. Those Shannon Gaels folks are clannish.
