Thought dunphy was a complete Jack ass last night
As a pool fan I thought it was a 50/50 game and 2 dodgy calls cost the Gunners the tie.
If they had gone the other way Dunphy would have been praising Wenger for his style of football and ability to get young players to show maturity in such an atmosphere. They didnt get the credit they deserved last night in my opinion.
The John Cleese comments were a disgrace. Like something you would see in The Sun.
Anyone deserved to be compared to Cleese its Dunphy. A clueless buffoon

I didn't see the clash last night and can't view youtube in work but from what I hear my sympathies lie with Brady. It seems like it was a bit of s stitch up.

Dunphy has a penchant for going over the top and especially when something happens that he doesn't like or when a core belief of his gets crushed. He feels let down that "the beautiful game" he loves represented by Arsenal has been vanquished by mechanical, sterile, cautious play represented by Liverpool and needs to vent his frustration. Wenger gets it because he has failed "the beautiful game" in Eamo's eyes as only his ineptitude could let the inferior styled Liverpool progress. I think this is as close as you can get to explaining Dunphy's logic on this matter. He's an extremist.

In fairness Seanie, the tag of sterile and cautious couldn't be levelled at Liverpool last night. In fact Rafa took a big gamble with the selection and they were decent going forward after they scored their equaliser. Even at 2-1 they continued to push onto Arsenal, which actually led to Arsenal's 2-2 goal, as Walcott seized on a loose ball after Gerrard had fresh aired a volley. The quality was still lacking, especially in the passing game, but the attitude was positive last night.

But I take your point in general, and you are probably right. Dunphy probably feels let down as another team he would see as being far superior to Liverpool bites the dust. It's probably the same way we felt when Armagh and Tyrone won their All Irelands

I didn't see most of the game last night and in my post above was only offering an opinion as to Dunphy's motivation. He has frequently castigated Liverpool in terms I used above so I was using them in that context.

Say what you like about Dunphy but, although he may sometimes get it wrong, he is always prepared to ask the hard and unpopular questions. Unlike the rest of those wishy-washy pundits on MOTD or Sky. Makes great television too!

There is no comparison between RTE and the rubbish on Sky but when John Cleese is dragged into analysis after a cracking champions league 1/4 final it begins to lose a bit of creditability..
If Arsenal won had they another tape in the can comparing Rafa to Manuel??

I think they probably expected liverpool to win so i doubt they had very much of an equivalent nature prepared. also i don't see how they could? although it was done distastefully I could see the point dunmphy was trying to make? How aresnals season had collapsed in a somewhat farsical way. Just looking back to Gallas's ridiculous crying on the pitch weeks ago and how Wenger seems to be living in his own wee bubble where every referee is out to get arsenal.

Souness made a decent enough point about Wenger acting a little bit strangely recently but Dunphy's clips and comments were just comical. In fairness he didnt make Wenger do the funny Cleese walk, but I'm not sure what Dunphy's point was, if he had one. I think overall it was a big over-reaction by Brady, albeit understandable given he would have been feeling pretty sick at the result.

Yes.. i think generally the point was made well by souness and Dunphy's antics were just some sort of comical representation of this. Souness stopped short of saying Wenger was losing the plot and Dunphy went further and tried to portray this (wrongly) with clips of his frustration and agitation.

I'm not sure what else people expect Brady to do. He's employed by Arsenal, so he would face fairly harsh questions if he returned to London not having said a word about Dunphy's ridiculing of Wenger.

Yes and clearly the producers/dunphy knew he would react that way and in his absence where he was unable to object to the edited clips I suppose you could say he was "set-up" but all the same it was brilliant to watch.

I think it's a bit unfair on Brady anyway to have to act as pundit towards the team he played for and that currently employs him.

He was close to tears last night and Dunphy smelt blood in the water and being the arch wind up merchant he is went to town on poor chippy.

I'd disagree, I thought it was an embarrassing, pathetic and puerile display by a man (Dunphy) who certainly doesn't like it put up to himself.  For tonight they should do a medley of all the ridiculous predictions and hissy-fits he's thrown over the years - would put the Ministry of Silly Walks in its place.

what exactly is chippies role with Arsenal  i know he is involved with the youths but does he scout for them or train them?

Brady didnt exactly stick up for those done by hatchet job clips in the past did he?

When they where wheeling out clips of Christiano Ronaldo making mistakes and laughing about how it proved Dunphy was right and he was a terrible footballer I didnt hear him complain.
