Lads & Lassies,
I'm starting a regular poker night.

Every Tuesday night at 8pm (Sharp) in the Iveagh Grounds Crumlin Road.

Buy-In will be €20, getting you 2000 chips, with the option of two further buy-backs of 2000 chips for €10 each.

Blinds will start at 25 and 50 and raise every 30 minutes.

For those of you who have not used the blinds system before it is in place of everybody ante-ing and it will be explained on the night, or just watch late night poker.

At 10pm there will be a 15 minute break, where those who have not used their two buy-backs can top-up with 2000 chips for €10.

We will start again at 10.15pm, after which point there is no option to buy-back and blinds will be raised every 20 minutes.

Prizes will be shared out as follows, in percentages of money collected:

1st: 40%

2nd: 20%

3rd: 10%

4th: 5%

And so on, the number of players will determine the number of winners and will be decided and announced during the break.

There will be a monthly prize available, with the last 8 players of each night getting points 8th=1, 7th=2 etc. A percentage of each weeks prizes will go towards this monthly prize.

All disputes will be settled by a non-playing referee, whose word is final but this is meant to be a bit of craic, please remember this.

20% of all money collected will go towards St James Gaels, to cover the costs of under-age buses, flood lights, referees, laundry etc

The first night will be Tuesday March 4th.

If you play please come along and support, if not please tell your friends and pass this on to all who may be interested.

Anyone with any queries can PM me.

with blinds every half an hour you'll be there for a a few days.

Reminds me of a fella  ( similar to pints pre diet  period ) who was complaining about the price of the buy in. When he asked what it was for and told it was for his entry and chips he was delighted.

Rebuys should always be the same as the original buy-in otherwise you're just letting bad play off lightly.

Have to agree with Homer, you can have have up to 2 rebuys during the first buy-in period but SHOULD be 20  and only if less than 2000 in chips.  If there are more than 40 players put the blinds higher or the rounds shorter 10-15 min per round.

Mayo,

You have a good idea there, but your poker game will go on far, far far to long with that kind of structure.

I have a good structure stolen from one of the casinos here, where your tournament will be over in 3 to 3 and a half hours max.

If you want, ill post it on here, but 30 minute blinds are 10 minutes too long.

Shuffle up and deal!

Its a learn as u go job, i'll just have to judge how loose the play is and up the antes as i see fit if the cash isn't flowing

The re-buys are lower because i had originally planned for them to be €20 as well but people complained about losing €60 in a night.
Yes bad play is rewarded but it also is a reward for getting the cash in the pot and ultimately speeding the game up

Puckoon if u can that would be great

1. Establish the Button. High Card draw from seats 1 -10 in that order.

Round 1. 20 mins     Blinds = 25 and 50

Round 2. 20 mins     Blinds = 50 and 100

(Remove the 25 dollar chips from the table with a colour up (4 chips=100 dollar chip) High card race off for the rest.

Round 3. 20 mins     Blinds = 100 and 200

Round 4  20 mins     Blinds = 200 and 400

Round 5  20 mins     Blinds = 300 and 600

Round 6  20 mins     Blinds = 400 and 800

(Colour up the 100 dollar chips and remove them from the table)

Round 7  20 mins     Blinds = 500 and 1000

Round 8  20 mins     Blinds = 1000 and 2000

So you get the drift there Mayo. Another way to raise more money, and take care of the dealers is to make the chip stacks 1500, with an extra 500 chips for a 5$ "add on" This will increase the money in the kitty for the charity, as almost everyone pays it. Somewhere inbetween the rounds in the second half of your tournament, you will reach the final table (probably when blinds reach 400,800 as it forces people to play). This is a good time to take your next break.

By the way Mayo, you shouldnt change the blinds and antes as you see fit, it really pisses serious players off. This format will give all the players enough time to where they get value for money, yet after an hour and a halfs play, they will have to start moving when the big blinds hit 400 & 800 when they only have a 2000 chip stack.

Its win win for you, people will enjoy the tournament as they feel like they get enough playing time even if they dont go deep in the tournament, plus you should be done in 4 hours unless you get 50+ people.

I meant i'll know after a couple of weeks at what rate i need to change the antes to get it finished up on time, its not really critical up until the break what the antes are.

I'd love to get over 50 people but wouldn't be that ambitious!
