QuoteMulgrew would be totally lost in the corner, thats not his type of game at all.

Might take him a bit of time to adjust but I wouldn't be too pessamistic about the idea. SON was well capable of switching from half forward to full forward, although granted he is a different class to Mulgrew.

Penrose............not the solution, not by a country mile.

Mugsy has the talent, of that there is absolutely no doubt, you just wonder what it takes to get his head right and for him to take the burden of leadership on.

QuoteThe calls for Justin or Joe McMahon to be played in full forward are very unrealistic in my opinion.

Again loughshore lad its a matter of horses for courses. Neither lad would be first choice full forwards, but thats the nature of a utility player. Im just wondering if it would ever be an option, against certain teams and full back lines who might struggle under the high ball..
Think last years ulster final and Vincent Corey, a man who as recently as last week lined out at centre half forward.

It might be my St Endas tinted glasses, but it would be a fairly badly prepared Division 1A full back who would take marking either of the McMahons lightly.

Penrose for me gets into some great positions with the ball but he seems to panic a wee bit and either fluffs the ball during a solo or takes the wrong option by either passing when he should go on on his own or going on on his own when he should pass ... but i still think there's potential there

Yeh had me with yeh up to that point...Penrose wouldn't know a pass if it smacked him in the face - if there is a dead end to run aimlessley up..he's yer man

Yes which is more than can be said for what's getting playing time these days with the exception of McCullagh.
Very harsh on Penrose IMO, Back when he was taking flak for the above mentioned we had a very formidable
forward unit at our disposal, need i remind some of you, we're not just so blessed these days.
Mulligan and Hub need to be benched till about the end of June at least, it might light a fire under them both :-\

Vinny Corey actually plays as a forward for his club and is a more natural forward than a defender, Seamus McEnaney actually switched him into full back due to a lack of alternatives. I didnt say a full back would be taking either of them lightly I dont think any full back would be as nervous picking them up as they would be picking up a more natural forward like Stevie O'Neill, Frank McGuigan, Sean O'Neill etc
I understand where you are coming from I just think its a massive ask to play someone who is not a natural full forward in that position at county level.

No I have not been overly impressed with him either. Dont get me wrong I think he is a fine player but its getting to the stage where he should be making more of an impact, dont forget this is his third year as a starting player. Maybe there is too much expectaion on his shoulders and people automatically think he will pick up where Brian McGuigan left off, but people need to remember he isnt in the same class as McGuigan was (and hopefully still is!)

There has been a lot of pressure placed on Mulgrew's young shoulders in the absence of Mc Guigan, Dooher, Cavlan, O'Neill, Canavan.

Mr. Nakata

I watched the game with about 8 pints on board, pictures, no sound thankfully as Silke is shocking. So I wasn't as focused as I should've been. For me Mulgrew has to take on more responsibility. The fact that he's been bummed up for the last 4 years as the great white hope has meant he is playing with this burden on him, so I always end up being critical because I expect so much more. However, I really hope he comes good, likewise Justy who was immense in the U-21 setup. It looks as though we will get slaughtered in midfield week in, week out, so the hoover will be very welcome back. Galway will be another tough one, but if we improve on the last performance, a game I think we can win.

Quarterback

I can confirm that the rumours spouted around about gormley are completely untrue, He was infact, and still is suffereing frrom a bad flu.....Thankfully from tyrones point of view the rumours are untrue.  So that puts an end to that....

Does this mean you're not going to use it as a stick to beat Mickey Harte then? Even if he had nothing to do with it!

I agree. But saying that, I think he definitely has it in him and his underage reputation would suggest that ... remember his point out on the hogan stand side during the league game against the Dubs in Croker last year, awesome, but we've been waiting for two years for him to fulfill the hype

I heard he actually caught the flu from Mickey. This would never have happened if Tally was coaching the team.
