i was very surprised, i know that i put money in every few months and i only play 5-10 dollar tables but when its in front of you in black and white it  hits home. But since i seen it i have tightened up a lot and seemed to have turned around. It might be for the best!

I keep a rather loose record to be honest.

I try and keep a grand in my wallet at all times, and pay for everything with cash from my wallet, so that all that comes out  of my pay check/ bank are bills and petrol.

I had built up a nice bankroll of 6 grand cash (not in an online account) a few weeks back, and started to run a little bad - not big losses, but just bad losses. I purposely put all 6 grand down and 2 grand more from my savings account down on a new car and broke myself and my bank. By the time Id registered and insured it Id paid out over 9 grand - 6 of which came from poker. In my first year playing heavily, I probably lost 3 grand (playing 3-6 limit and tournaments), which I made back, paid off some credit cards, and then made 6 on top of it playing solely no limit hold'em a couple times a week. I resolved never to play limit hold'em again. It encourages you to play bad! Ive also stopped playing tournaments.

It sucks not to be playing right now, but I wanted to test myself and my resolve. I have no disposable income (for poker) until september, and then I hope to build my bank roll steadily from september until christmas.

Im relatively confident, there are a few big games in Reno, and Ive broken them well before, and have the discipline not to play when Im running bad. This year I wont be parlaying many bets on the football, just rather betting big and betting straight.

The future is bright - the future is smart gaming.

DH you must have had some start to your career! What tables were you playing to have built up that profit or did you win 1 big tournament?

I put 350 into Pokerstars at the start and have been using that. I play mostly sit n go (18-45 players), tournys w/3000 plus players at lower stakes(3.00-12.00) and when low on cash shoot over to the .50/1.00 table and build up till I get 100-250 then head back to the tournys.


What helped was I won my way into the PokerStars Carribean Adventure which is part of the European Poker Tour  (EPT).

just small stuff but was down to 300 chips with blinds 50/100, after going all in with bullets and getting called with pocket 7's all pre flop and he hit trips.

came back and won the tournment and $150,

as they say as long as you have a chip and a chair your still in with a chance

Theres an auld boy plays down one of the clubs I frequent - name is earl the pearl. Old time mobster type from the bronx. Hard as nails. He loves to tell the story (and he isnt lying, as I was there to see it) of the day he was at the final table in the 2000$ buy in easter poker special in the Hilton in Reno. His opponent (a lady pro) mis counted his chips, and instead of putting him all in on the river - bet 12000$. He callled, and lost the hand, but had 13000$ when she bet the 12000$. He came back from one 1000$ chip to take the title.


On a personal note - took a hell of a beating in vegas last week. Shipped out 600$ in one three hour sesssion - losing with 4 deuces along the way in a room with no bonus hands or bad beat jackpot.

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson tried to turn zero$$$ into $10,000 dollars on Full Tilt Poker. He entered the freerolls were the top 27 out of 2,700 make the money. First is 15.00 and goes down from there. He won some money on the freerolls and then moved on to the small cash games .02/.05 and progressed up to the 5/10 tables and beyond. It took him 7 months to reach $6.50 in the freerolls then an additional 9 months from there to hit $10,000.00. He then donated his winnings to the Save the Children Foundation.

He also turned $1.00 into $20,000.00 using bank roll management. Takes alot of disciplne to do this but anyone could do it.

Came close to winning a big jackpot on Paddypower poker. I usually play the $5 dollar sit n'go table Maui. If you win 5 games in a row you win a minimum of 18k.If you get to the last 2 5 games in a row you win $200. I have won the 200 twice and came close to winning the 5 once.

I was on Full Tilt watching the RailHeaven $500/$1000 NL table.

Phil Ivey took down a $485,000 + pot to put over a Million $$$ in front of him.

John Juanda went from $120,000 to over $580,000 +.

All you need is $50,000 to sit at the table

My mates cousin won a EPT tournamnet last week in Budapest taking down 600k!! Only been playing a few years.
