OK, that could be it this time.

Quote from: J70 on February 10, 2025, 02:10:24 AMHaven't seen a top quarter back shut down like this since the Giants did a job on Brady in 2008 and 2012.

But at least Brady made some headway in those games. It's hard to see KC scoring at all, and there's still 17 minutes left.

Great performance by the Eagles.

Proud night. Fly Eagles Fly.

How did Taylor Swifts beau play?

He dropped a few poor passes in the first quarter and a bit of the second quarter that I saw, but the eyes give up at that point.

He poor up to the 3rd quarter but it's the Offensive line fault, gave Maholmes zero time to throw passes. Going into a game with no left tackle was nuts.

Offensive line completely wiped out. But even when mahomes got outside the pocket and tried to make something happen a receiver would drop a pretty simple pass.

They really were dominated in all areas. Plus their discipline went completely out the window.

What happened last night was what we were wondering about all season ie surely the (limited) Chiefs would implode should a team be able to rattle Mahomes.

Eagles were excellent, absolutely excellent and I'm not taking anything away from them. But this was a mismatch once the above happened. Chiefs have no running game, no long game. They've won games all season by being able to get third and short with short passes, and especially so when it mattered. And once they had to throw it last night they became both predictable and below par.

What wasn't as predictable was that Eagles could pound the scoreboard so comprehensively with a misfiring running game. What a collective team effort. Hurts of course getting the plaudits as the controller but this was a win based on power more than control.

Kendrick Lamar was perhaps the worst half time show of all time ever. I know that music is entertainment now rather than being anything to do with music per se. But if all the people really want is to watch shapes folding and unfolding on their screens surely they could just unload an AI bot to draw and reveal in sequences.

I only ever watch the first quarter the head to bed, can't stand the breaks which prolong a game more than it actually should, Americans TV love the breaks and the grounds love them to for da money...

But in that first quarter the Chiefs where all over the shop and Mahomes was or is a bit odd in how he does things. The Eagles looked focus and it didn't surprise me that they won so well when I checked the scores this morning

Few friends from Philly so they'll have enjoyed that
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Fair call. Forgot about that one. I always think of Manning's Denver period as him winning a second Super Bowl as a do-no-harm QB on a great defensive team right before he retired, but Seattle did a number on him in 2014 for sure when he was still producing.

A special night watching the Philadelphia Eagles win a second Super Bowl. 7 years ago was probably better with it being the first one and that game also went down to the final play of the game with Brady throwing a Hail Mary into the end zone. Last night, I probably felt the game was definitely over when Hurts hit Smith in the end zone in the 3rd quarter to go 30 odd points up.

Going into the game, I felt we were a better team than the Chiefs but the Chiefs had all the experience in these games and have been unbelievable since Reid and Mahomes came together.

For the first time in 20+ years supporting Philly, I felt there wasn't a particularly weak area within the team. Hurts has become a great game managing quarter back, Saquon just had one of the best rushing seasons ever while Smith, Brown and Goedert are all reliable receivers/tight ends.

Defensively, the young lads in the corners have been great, line backers and d line have been outstanding all year too. The only really questionable area was the kicker but to be fair Jake Elliott was superb last night, nailing everything and even had to deal with the Chiefs trying to ice him with timeouts a few times but he was perfect throughout.

The Chiefs did a great job on Saquon and I was worried that the Eagles would be stubborn and stick with him but they went to the air and won the game that way. I'd say we probably threw the ball on first down more times last night than at any other point this season.

The d line got great pressure on Mahomes and with Fangio not really calling the blitz they were able to lock down Kelce with plenty of bodies in the secondary and gave the Chiefs nothing.

The Chiefs have been great champions and will probably be right in the mix for another few years anyway although it might be time for Kelce to move on. His receiving yards this year were the lowest of his career. At 35 and with the workload he has had throughout his career I can't see it getting better although I don't think he's the type of guy who would retire after a blow out.

The Eagles should be able to contend again next year. Brandon Graham is retiring and it was great to see him return for injury as he has had an unbelievable career with the strip sack on Brady in 2018 the highlight. Moore, the OC,  seems to be going to New Orleans so Roseman will need to fix those things but hopefully he doesn't have to do too much and most of that team come back again next year.

The Lions will be hard beat and if Daniels can improve on his rookie year then the Commanders will be close too. It's a long time until September and no doubt someone will have a good draft or free agency and emerge as a threat too but hopefully Philly can keep the good feeling going and get back to January football again next year.

My son absolutely loved it. I think I would have needed subtitles as I hadn't a clue what he was saying most of the time. It must be a generation thing...

I also didnt notice Serena Williams until it was mentioned the next day.

Just finished listening to this weeks episode of the New Heights Podcast. Travis Kelce says he won't be rushing into any decisions about his future but in the language used, he strikes me as a guy that's more out than in.

Opponents are the Vikings - Sept 28th - Week 4 of the season.
