Not strictly related to this thread, but 'Booked', a collection of Tom Humphreys' articles is currently on offer in Easons' sale for the princely sum of £0.99. Whilst some of the articles may appear a bit dated (it was first published in 2003), it is still a very good read and an excellent addition to anyone's library.

And it is only 11.01% of the cost of "The Gambler", on sale in the same store for £8.99.

I started reading the book last night, not impressed so far - it seems like he's decided to write a book aimed at getting revenge on all those people who have slighted him over the years. 
Worse than that, he claims that in his first year playing (1994) he didn't get a run out as Armagh were hammered in the Athletic Grounds by Derry, now, maybe I'm totally wrong on this one, but Derry did not play Armagh in 1994 (game of the decade v Down, Celtic Park, anyone remember), since he seems to be taking each year one after each other, surely this is going to come to light at some stage?  Maybe later on in the book himself and ghost writer are going to cotton on to the inaccuracy and tell us all how they've been having a laugh, at this stage it just seems very shoddy.

Not strictly related to the thread, but, in a tangential type way Bogball seems to be getting the drift. Whilst people continue to happily shell out a fair bit of money for a poorly written book with numerous factual inaccuracies, I simply highlighted that you can buy a much more enjoyable book of a much superior journalistic standard for a fraction of the price.

I am flabbergasted that they could let such a glaring inaccuracy through, I mean fair enough Oisin may forget what year he first sat on the bench for a championship game, but for the journo etc to do so too is unbelievable, I shudder to think what awaits me (if I get round to picking it up again).  Now I bought the book myself as I thought it would be an interesting read, and I think Oisin should have a decent story to tell, but thusfar it's very poor.  I didn't expect it to be the standard regularly churned out by the likes of Duggan or Humphries, but still....
