The GAA have confirmed that following a meeting of the Central Hearings Committee on Thursday night, 30th August, a penalty of 8 weeks suspension as proposed by the C.C.C.C was imposed on Peadar Carton (Dublin).

The suspension is applicable from the date of his last game and is relevant at the same level and in the same code as the infraction occurred.

And rightly so

can't really argue from a dublin perspective when you take into account the injuries suffered - but the county board are going to the DRA- not that i agree with their actions.

Craigyhill Terror

Of course they'll go to the DRA. Unfortunately every county board in the country would do the same

Declan

Lucky only to get 8 weeks. Disgraceful pull altogether.

Not if you do what the IRB do sure you can appeal no problem .........................................................but you you lose it will be a 28 week ban .
Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

I know he will miss the Under 21 but surely it should be a game ban, at the end of the day if Dublin were not in the U21 final this would be a meaningless ban!

At least players don't have the double jeopardy way out any more.
If the initial punishment is weaseled out of by way of technicalities, justice can be re-applied.
Hopefully county boards will now take the hint and stop trying to get players off on technicalities, such as the presiding suspension committee eating Marietta biscuits instead of Digestives, or the like.
If Carton had taken his punishment initially, he would probably have been eligible to play in the U21 All Ireland.

The incident happened in a Liam McCarthy match therefore if Dublin were not playing in the U-21 final then he would miss the opening match in next years Leinster championship. As it is he is missing an all-ireland final and Dublin do not get to many of these. This would hurt any person big time especially if you are from a county that does not get to many all irelands. Just deserts for what was a dirty blow.

No Complaints really. big loss to the U21s mind you.

Carton cleared for Under-21 final

The Central Appeals Committee have cleared Dublin hurler Peadar Carton of an eight week suspension, but the case does not appear to be closed just yet.

The O'Tooles man had his appeal against his ban upheld by the Central Appeals Committee on technical grounds.

It now appeals that he will be able to line out for Dublin in Sunday's Under-21 All Ireland Hurling final with Galway.

However, the GAA are believed to be unhappy with the outcome of the appeal and will make a statement tomorrow.

This is really taking the Mickey!  >:(
I'd nearly hope Dublin lose to Galway if Carton lines out.
Why can't people take responsibility for their actions any more?
And why does every loophole have to be relentlessly pursued?

true but everyone is at it- not that it makes it right of course.

Everyone is not at it.  Did n't Meath accept the suspension on their corner forward, Brian Farrell.  the Dublin County Board have let themselves down badly on this case.  I accept that very many Dublin Hurling supporters do not agree with the line being taken by the County Board.

I know this isn't a time to be looking for  positives, in a situation which is 100% wrong but at least it look like the DCB care about Hurling now .
