No grá for Tyrone but lots to admire in that effort which might be the toughest game Kerry get en route to winning Sam. They had to work so hard for their scores and were ritually disembowelled on kickouts, but managed to hang in with Donnelly and McCurry leading the charge. A few inches lower by McElholm for a goal, a bit more composure in front of goal generally, those big calls that went Kerry's way...? That said, Kerry looked like any time they really needed scores they could get them.

What was the story with Darragh for the last couple of weeks? He was able to come on against Mayo so did he aggravate something?

On GAA+ btw, they need to f**k off with automatically going to replays before seeing what the keeper is doing. They missed a bucket load of kickouts, which had a huge influence on the game.

We are getting closer to Kerry that's one positive to take from today. We will take them in the next couple of seasons.

That was a fine effort from Tyrone. We have to reflect on an attack that was at times too pedestrian, on too many wides, and on losing the kick out battle badly. But for all that we were right in at the end. And while we only have ourselves to blame for the issues highlighted above, the officials made some huge errors in the closing stages in particular that had a massive impact on the outcome. That leaves a sour tate in the mouth.

After the shambles of the league the Championship has been much better. It will stand to the all the young players on the panel - and there's more of them to come.  I'd like to think some of the older lads will stick around for a year or two yet. Speaking of them, hats off to McCurry, magnificent cameo.
