Quote from: Killala on June 21, 2026, 10:01:25 PMI'm not sure where all the belief in Galway is coming from. They have been bang average and haven't set the place alight. As others have said Kerry look to be coming good at the right time. Galway to me are at a level with the rest.
We know the talent they have and for the first time since 2022 they've near enough a full deck. (Bar the new celebrity) They're a very good side and will be hard stopped.

it was a weird one with Murphy totally losing his rag, he had to compose himself totally for the kick, he succeeded and it was high five time, the championship saved at the death, instead he turned into a raving lunatic. The black cards received cost Donegal a lot more.

Kilkenny must mentioned having 7 or 8 All-Irelands!!

Don't get the hype about Galway, they've beaten 2 division 3 teams one of which was beat out the gate by Monaghan. Yes they get some eye catching scores but have been beat by the only division 1 team they've played.

Tyrone have better form beating 2 division 1 teams in the past 2 weeks.

Would def cheer them on in a final if we don't get there but along way to go yet.

Quote from: David McKeown on June 21, 2026, 06:35:00 PMSo 5 first round winners and 3 losers make up the last 8. Not maybe the huge advantage that winning your first game was supposed to bring. It's a strange system. We moved away from 6 day turn arounds for losers only to return to it.

I'll see how next week pans out before I make any determinations ok it.

Very true.

No  difference in losing a provincial final a few years ago , and playing in the back  door 6 days later... To the likes of  Armagh's  gutwrenching late defeat last week , and having to  go  to Killarney 6  days later

I don't think there's much hype about Galway to be honest.

It's more that anyone who's been following football the past 3-5 years would be able to identify that they've got one hell of a big, athletic, talented and and balanced first XV if everyone is available.

But until such time comes as 90-95% of them are actually flying fit on the field at the same time, I'm going to side with my theory that they're overtrained and will always burn out in the modern condensed championship.

Don't think there is any real hype about them at all. But they do have a full deck as a previous poster mentioned.

Their strongest team on paper is arguably number 2 or 3 in the country. Unfortunately the game is played on grass though. They also have a glaring weakness in goalkeeper position.

With saying all that would I be in any way confident that they'd beat Dublin Monaghan Mayo or Kerry next day out... absolutely not on all 4 accounts.

Tyrone have had better results but they haven't a fully fit squad to pick from just yet.

Quote from: Armamike on June 21, 2026, 07:33:54 PMWould love Galway to do it this year.

Its their turn to be "Mayo to the Dubs" youd feel.

No one will touch Kerry bar some crazy scenarios like Tyrone scalping* them

*this might require machetes

Or fingers  in the eyes , knees into the  head,  falling over after  getting your hair ruffled.........

Matthew Thompson is still out. And is a big loss. I would feel more confident in our chances if he was available. Despite last year being his first year on the panel.

Galway have the physicality, experience and shooting power. They could rumble Kerry on their day but these Kerry lads are not just focused on this year but the next 5.

Feels like a 3 or more in a row team and said as much last year

SouthDublinBro

Cheerio Donegal!
Cheerio Armagh!

Likely the end of both teams as a serious force in the sport for a good while.

ONeill

Wonder if Geezer has the appetite for another rebuild.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

#2022
Donegal 3rd best team ever beat by Dublins worst

Bingo.
To hell with the players
so stupid to have the All-Ireland rushed to be finished by July 26th.
Insane. a week from today June 28th, there will be FOUR teams left.
there wont be a word or any reporting or news about gaelic or hurling until October when county final are on.
