twohands!!!

Quote from: befair on Today at 07:39:22 PMThat was a disappointing game; Armagh were well in it, but that gift just before half-time  undermined their belief and they completely folded

I don't know was it just the 2nd goal right before half time - Armagh started well and were 0-4 to 0-1 up after 10 minutes but I thought the Kerry defence seemed to get themselves sorted out after that keeping Armagh to 4 points in the remaining 25 minutes of the half. Kerry's shooting was poor early on - I'm nearly sure they had 6 wides to Armagh's 5 at one stage of the first half. I felt the first Kerry goal was key to getting them going. Ridiculous pass in from Dylan Geaney to Clifford. 2nd half Armagh never looked like they believed they had a chance and Kerry getting the first 2 scores was just the start they needed to take over the 2nd half. I think Armagh only scoring 1 point in the 10 minutes before Kerry got the 3rd goal was when the match ended as a contest. Once that went in it was just shadowboxing.

That was more of a case of Meath throwing it away than Mayo beating them.

Galway v Mayo quarter-final could be spicy though!

How dare he give someone a red card for a red card offence.

I'm ringing HQ.

Killala

Another cracking game, this championship is really good so far. Meath just folded in the second half. Cork game all over, didn't really learn much.

It's one thing to make a mistake. It's a whole different kettle of fish to make the same mistake repeatedly.

Could Cork play Mayo in a "teams that beat Meath after Meath had a dire 2nd half" derby?

Cunny Funt

Meath's run of never winning on Mayo soil continues and had a ten point head start to change that record.

Two challenge game wins for Meath over Mayo in December and May in the end meant diddly squat when it came to knock out championship football.

imtommygunn

Meath championship very disappointing. Beat a poor Derry team and that was it.

GalwayBayBoy

Meath red card looked a very dubious decision. More or less settled the game as well. Was 8 points to 1 after that.

From the Bunker

Meath do what Meath teams have done since 2001.

25 years of a soft under-belly.

SouthOfThe Bann

Is Andy Moran the best coach in the country that was some turnaround?

I believe that might be karma for 100 odd years of getting away with off the ball antics! ;D

Mental. I presume a wind up, but I'll bite anyhow.

Mayo have been at the exact same level throughout this decade. A good team that will beat any team that's not good, but will never beat a team that's great.

The black mark against Andy being that the last two management teams have undertaken the rebuild job of moving out a team of ageing warriors, and replacing them with new blood.

Which they did, and handed over the reins.

Mayo's age and experience profile is perfect for winning an AI.

In my lifetime they've never had a full forward line as dangerous, not even remotely close. Not even a third cousin remotely as close.

Yet you still couldn't trust them to win a game against Carlow.

That's harsh 2016/2017 we bet a lot of good teams but just didn't  have the mental toughness to grab the slight chances the Dubs gave us in those finals!!

From the Bunker

Mayo beat an average Meath team reduced to 10 men and suddenly Andy is the best since sliced bread and Mayo have the best forwards in the country.

The fickleness of GAA is insane.

* throughout this decade *

(The last decade's team ran into a force of nature and could justifiably claim to be among the best 4-5 teams of all time even if they didn't win Sam)
