Quote from: DaleCooper on June 21, 2026, 12:19:01 PMPeople should enkoy this stable instability because war is on the horizon, social trust/ cohesion is being irreversibly destroyed by gov policy.

I can see Starmer holding out, to continue the NATO/EU war footing.

Meanwhile, they propose raising the defence budget to a totally unaffordable 5%, whilst every other public service suffers. It won't really matter a shite what they increase it to, as the British are a completely spent force, as a nation,  pretending that they can punch above their weight on the world stage. Somebody needs to gently remind them that their empire went, quite some time ago & that their delusions of grandeur & superiority are misplaced.

I can't help but feel we suffer from a complacency in relation to defence, in Ireland. There are solid reasons (including to buttress our own neutrality) to increase defence spending. Not least as warfare evolves.

Call me cynical, but are the political classes deliberately f**king up the entire world, just to hand over an even bigger slice of public monies to the industrial/military complex & increase its obscene profits?

Meanwhile, the little, unimportant people are camped out on hospital corridors, waiting to be allocated the absolute luxury that is a bed on a proper ward?

We certainly have our priorities all wrong.

Well that lands at the door of Putin, Netenyahu, and now Trump.

As much as the UK and the empire is long gone, they are still a nuclear weapon country, not that many have it, and as low in comparison to America Russia and China, they still have a deterrent

Sure their boats are tied up nowadays for ages in dry dock; their planes are only good for a flypast for Charlie's wee birthday & for flying Starmer round the world; their missiles are probably lying in a municipal dump somewhere, rusting. The North Koreans are probably a more credible military threat.

5% of GDP ain't gonna bring Dad's Army up to scratch as any sort of battle ready fighting force. As Private Frazer once observed, "we're doomed".

Boats tanks men and planes mean nothing, launching a nuke is all you need to have, as a deterrent, they've 5 times the amount of than North Korea..

But I get what ya mean, there'll be no war as some suggest, so pointless chatter

Andy, Streeting, or Starmer are one of the same, Farage will do what he's told too if, and it's a big IF, he gets in.

Better red than dead, particularly if they agree to leave St. Gall's facilities intact.

It was always a pleasure utilising those "facilities" pmsl. At least Glenariffe used to have the sea across the road from the pitch, so u could get a post match wash. These young uns now have come to expect stuff, like hot running water.

A broken clock is right....

Starmer is a goner, that, even a five year old knows that, some buffoon who couldn't even fix a medal to someone the other days needs to be put to bed, permanently

and they blamed a bio lab in China for the outbreak of Covid. It was those changing rooms all along.

There are bugs in there yet to be discovered by humans.

They all need to grow a set (ironically) like that Italian Prime minister, Giorgia Meloni and give the orange pedo a bit back to him.
