Will be a seriously difficult trip to Arsenal for Villa with no Cash or Kamara.

Great subs and changes made today by Emery that turned the tide. Chelsea probably should have been further ahead. It's a great run of form nonetheless

Arsenal and Liverpool the obvious bottlers here!

You do realise you're using the possible birth of a boy called Jesus 2025 years ago as your anchor here?

Jesus Christ but it's tough watching the constant diving and falling about in the Premier League nowadays.  Embarrassing

That's going on for decades. Sure Klinsmann had a "dive" celebration to mock critics calling him a diver.

What makes it a real tough watch is how micro managed the sport has become. The Shift from flowing, unpredictable play to more cautious, analytical tactics of set-pieces, long balls and possession for possession's sake.

Yes Klinnsman dived but I dont think there were as many dives during the games.  I'm just surprised why it isn't looked into more, After the games. Granted there are grey areas but others are just clear dives.  Tough to watch

Definitely more of the going down holding their head to get the game stopped

ONeill

It's rare for a 50/50 to be let go now without the whistle being blown for whoever the ref thinks came off worse.

if fans really hated diving and feigning injury by players, then they should boo their own team when they do it.
Or is it only cheating when other teams do it?
Never underestimate the power of complaining

Same as shouting at the ref when it's the other team doing the fouling but forgetting to shout when their own team 'fouls'
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

The December 2006 Goal of the Month competition came up again on the socials today and it was a reminder that people weren't afraid to have a lash. Now everybody seems to want to play it right into the goal. Any data to suggest a decline in having a go from distance?

BBC did an article last year confirming this, haven't a notion how you'd get it Tony. Deffo true.

Saw a clip today of Ian wright chipping keeper from 30yards, sort of effort the data guys would be screaming not to even try

Games gone 🤓

Always mention to friends, when discussing football, that chipping seems keepers is nearly dead now

Said something similar a few times recently to friends, in that chipping is something you rarely see in the risk averse modern game, compared to the past.

Are free kick goals a way done as well?

lurganblue

It's the XG lot. Villa have scored a right few from outside the box recently and the XG crowd are on saying you cant shoot from there as there is a 0.02 chance of scoring.  That was the exact XG for the rogers goal v west ham. I'd bet good money that Rogers scores from that same position with Areola in nets more than 2 times out of 100.

Teams buy into this crap now though and are told to not take on "low percentage shots".
