No way in the world that's a Dingle free to start with, could say fouled by Dingle nos. 8 & 12.

He was blowing for those all game, so wasn't a shock.

Think if the ref just breathed a second or two he'd have given just a free from where it was...

It could have still resulted in a score from that play, but to bring it 50m was a tough one.. I think there was two 50m infringements
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Also the fact that the ref is about 10m to the left of where he called the foul and brought it up 50m from there. If he did it right the free from the 50m would have been taken far closer to the sideline

+1 Has to be one of the worst decisions I have seen in a long time.

There no way a man lying on Top of u man not a free.

Smokin Joe

Sherlock's 2 point free from the edge of the D towards the sideline in the 35th minute was a mistake from the ref. The foul (Tom O'Sullivan pulled the jersey) clearly happened inside the arc, it was actually inside the 20m line.
That can't be taken back outside for a 2 point attempt.

Another thing to note about yesterday's game.

The referee didn't bring the free up the full 50 metres which would have brought it within the 2 point arc.

And if he did i can't see Dingle opting for the 2 point free considering the pressure on the kick.

Do you want him to get out a surveyor's wheel?

No but common sense should prevail it was the easier thing for him to do. Get it to extra time or replay and the controversy is less.

The 50m penalty for Sherlocks few minutes earlier was far further.

Yeah it is a pretty big flaw in the rule, the moving up is never going to be accurate.

The common sense thing for him to do is to move it up what he thinks is, give or take, 50m

What we absolutely don't, or shouldn't, want is referees thinking about how the specifics of their decision will influence the choices made by the teams, and then adjusting things on the fly based on preference.

If he'd moved it up massively beyond 50m and well inside the arc there'd be crowds howling about how the Barrs were done in, albeit differently, by a ref that gave a tap over equaliser against them, rather than keeping it outside the arc floor a much more challenging shot.
